gosh the nostalgia, this reminds me so much of Commando Steve by Bossfight.

but i love this not just for nostalgia. in 2026, this song serves as such a calm backdrop to a crazy world, and it doesn’t need to build to anything cause it serves its purpose just as is. I feel as if Joji’s reputation for unfinished songs is kinda dragging the reception of this down. Short doesn’t mean unfinished

I do stand by everything I said in my original review. I can see now how a few songs here come across as out of touch, and there are some lyrics bothering me a fair bit now, but the hate has still been insane. It’s been very exhausting not being able to escape the discourse no matter where I go.

I like Benson Boone’s best songs a lot, and think he has a lot of potential moving forward if he can just expand on his style a bit. Having some more versatility would remove the need for some of the annoying inflections or repetitive, basic lyrics that can plague this album. Still don’t find this to be too bad of a listen though, the hate is extremely overblown.
