I’m teary and in heaven. Olivia named this song after herself fr
Can we also just appreciate that we actually got the full explosion in a song finally
Freedom soaked in metamorphosis, carefree fun and even a touch of melancholy.
Harry is a vastly more bold artist than he receives credit for. It takes serious musicianship to pull off the genre blends he does with songs that are heavily produced and yet sound so natural, catchy and accessible. In his biggest electronic shift yet, it still sounds so natural, as if it were produced on a dance floor, surrounded by pop girlies with the floating sounds of club beats and loose dancers. Of course, ... read more
gosh the nostalgia, this reminds me so much of Commando Steve by Bossfight.
but i love this not just for nostalgia. in 2026, this song serves as such a calm backdrop to a crazy world, and it doesn’t need to build to anything cause it serves its purpose just as is. I feel as if Joji’s reputation for unfinished songs is kinda dragging the reception of this down. Short doesn’t mean unfinished
EDIT: 82 -> 74
I do stand by everything I said in my original review. I can see now how a few songs here come across as out of touch, and there are some lyrics bothering me a fair bit now, but the hate has still been insane. It’s been very exhausting not being able to escape the discourse no matter where I go.
The first 4 songs are absolutely fantastic, and I wish the rest of this was as tight and fun as those. There are still plenty of good moments after that, but the final stretch ... read more
I like Benson Boone’s best songs a lot, and think he has a lot of potential moving forward if he can just expand on his style a bit. Having some more versatility would remove the need for some of the annoying inflections or repetitive, basic lyrics that can plague this album. Still don’t find this to be too bad of a listen though, the hate is extremely overblown. First song is such an awesome tune (would be nearly a perfect radio hit if the outro went for a bit longer imo) and ... read more
Wow dang I’m really not feeling this at all. Azizam was decent and Old Phone was great, but this one has none of the energy of the former and none of the passion of the latter.
Ed absolutely can make good dance cuts but I’m afraid this goes into the category of his annoying big hits. The production does get better towards the end but it doesn’t really salvage it. The chorus really isn’t that fun and I respect the cultural aspects of the rap verse but I don’t ... read more
I love this song idc. Call the sound generic but the vocals are so passionate that none of it matters. Song tells such a powerful story too
Just gorgeous.
Justin has rightfully gained a reputation as a very devastating and cryptic lyricist through his work with Bon Iver. Everything was born out of pain, and we saw a constant desire to push boundaries and see just how far he could push the expansion of his heavily layered emotional worlds. None of that has changed here, but the ultimate feeling has.
Every ounce of creativity Justin has always had is still here, just channeled a little differently. One of a kind expressions of pain ... read more
It’s whatever. Pretty boring aside from a few fun moments in Gracie’s verse. The vocal chemistry is there but should’ve been taken way further
Can that piano in the outro just go on forever please? Is that too much to ask?
Wow this grew on me quick. So subtly groovy!! This is not at all what I expected from Justin and it definitely took a minute too adjust to, but gosh this is so creative, so fun and so beautifully written. So excited for this album
I probably should never listen to this again, and I’m going to try to restrain myself for a while.
I look around and everything feels so dark now. The river, right in front of me as I type this, looks to have monsters lurking underneath, waiting to assassinate me at any moment. I’m already depressed and this project has completely reinforced it. The universe feels like a punishment from God that I am eternally trapped in. Not even my eventual death will bring me an escape.
I want ... read more
how does this song not bury its way into your head and soundtrack your life? What an absolute banger. I hope this is remembered as one of the quintessential 2020s songs
gosh i LOVE the instruments on this version! so much added emotion and they sound so organic, it’s super refreshing in this era of pop (i say that even as a pretty vocal defender of modern pop music)
rest of the song is great just like the original, i’d say the vocals are also an improvement. contrary to many people here i love her whispery vocals, but i’m in agreement that she sounds best when she’s really belting and flexing her voice. her performance here is so ... read more
A frightening exhibition into a deep, dark basement, where trauma and pain manifest themselves in perversion and entrapment. Overwhelming guilt fills the air, with no sign of cutesy love from the outside world. The only love that exists here is a cycle of pain; selling yourself for nothing in return. The only sign of hope comes from the piano in the corner, where four comforting chords calmly play themselves, trying to drown out the screeching pain. A wall of guitars eventually threatens to ... read more
Honestly pretty good! Moon Music is a very pretty album, making much better use of the space aesthetic than Music of the Spheres did.
I really appreciate the care taken in the more ambient passages here, the atmosphere manages to make me float in a way similar to groups like Beach House. It feels very natural, like something you would actually hear on the moon and feel at home. The album also borrows a lot of great ideas from the song Coloratura (despite not having a track quite as ambitious ... read more
