guys there’s a human review in your bot review section
edit: the album is fine but the horrible vocal effects ruin most of the ballads, also a lot of the upbeat tracks sound like Justin Timberlake ripoffs except obviously not as good. Very average but I guess a bit better than I expected, best track is Yes or No
THESE HARMONIES HOLY SHE DOES NOT MISS
1989 has never been my favourite Taylor album, but this is a pretty significant improvement over the original for me. Anyway I’ve just got a list of dot points with my thoughts really.
- People have been criticising the Style re-recording a lot and I kinda agreed at first, but it has grown on me a lot to the point where I like the new one just as much as the original. After a few listens I just stopped noticing the changes and got used to it. The magic of the song has gone nowhere.

this song makes me (a sex-repulsed asexual) feel horny
While Holly’s full-length debut does see a few risks fall flat, this album is still a really fun and intimate collection of pop tracks. Her trademark layered vocals sound as good as they ever have, her lyrics are personal and well-crafted and the hooks remain super catchy.
To start off with those tracks I thought fell short: Baby Blues has a nice atmosphere, but the melody sounds like it was suited for a much bigger song, resulting in an end product that doesn’t completely work as ... read more
Good collection of outtakes, although I do think they made the right call leaving a couple of these off The Record. Afraid of Heights is a great track featuring the harmonies and hard-hitting lyrics that made so many tracks from the main album so great. Voyager is also a song where I feel like I can cling to the intimacy of it and sink myself in the lyrics.
Black Hole, however, is a very underwhelming track with this really awkward rhythm that doesn’t suit the vibe of the song (a very ... read more
looking back, some of these lyrics are really strange and not it
I still almost like this song tho… is it nostalgia? Probably
A great debut EP that features a cool ‘sad girl’ sound which she would go onto refine down the road. Whilst not as compelling throughout as her newer projects, it still has some huge emotional highlights.
Favourite Tracks: 21, I miss you I’m sorry, Long Sleeves, Friend
Least Favourite Tracks: minor
Thought I was the only one who didn’t like this song 😭
Justin Timberlake has made some good music. This is not an example of that
EDIT: 96 -> 100. This is a perfect score from me, although I do have to say one thing.
Feeling happiness from this album (which is how I originally felt due to just the pure shock of how good it is, as you can see in my original review) ended up being a temporary feeling, as after more listens (and with the added context of Sufjan’s partner passing) it really hits just how devastating this project is. This album is capable of mind fucking you with depressing feelings, but the music is ... read more
Would be his best album yet if not for some very lacklustre tracks in the first half.
Ed Sheeran at his strongest has made songs that beautifully convey emotions in an accessible yet compelling manner. Tracks like The A Team, Visiting Hours, Afterglow and Salt Water are great examples of songs where Ed’s songwriting, vocals and folky aesthetic all come together to create a truly beautiful product. Where he has slipped up are the tracks where it really felt like he took less care. Maybe ... read more
I haven’t listened to this but I need to say something.
Am I crazy or is there no way that Tom MacDonald actually believes what he raps about? It just seems like he’s putting on a show
“I know my age and I act like it”
Society has its (stupid) critiques of teenagers and young adults, especially women. What better way to liberate yourself than to turn that back around on everyone else? GUTS is a very powerful statement. One of the most impressive things Olivia does on this album is make her detractors (and society in general) look very stupid. We get her twisting around sayings like “act your age” and “know your place” on the track ... read more

Sensory Overload: The Album
Seriously, for the love of god can they please get rid of the annoying distorted sounds that are in the front and centre of the mix on every song except When You Sleep? UGHHHHHH. This is a difficult album for me to sit through, I’ll try my best to explain why.
There are actually beautiful sounds on this album, you can hear them in little bursts (like the intro of To Here Knows When, a few of the instrumental breaks in I Only Said and the moments where the ... read more
