the exterminating angel. fantastically languid gothrock tune

MALICE MIZER - Cher De Memoire II

Tetsu’s last live with the band. Ridiculously stacked tracklist (baroque, sadness, ma cherie, vault of heaven, seraph, the list goes on) and amazing performances. Recording quality is more raw than the other concerts I’ve seen of them, which I like. This was before they felt like the biggest band in the world putting on insane conceptual shows. Really, this is better than any of that stuff. Music good. Music spectacular, even.

Various Artists - Cajun Early Recordings (1928-1938)

Most of everything is pretty great here, personally very soothing, but I especially love the more accordion focused songs that are earlier in the compilation. Disk 2 in particular is a highlight because of the great Breaux renditions. “La valse du vieux temps” is fantastic and maybe my favorite song here, second to the Cajun national anthem Ma blonde est partié (known more widely as Jole Blon)

アツオ [Atsuo] - 作品集 [Works]

Fun fact! The cover is not “from” anywhere, instead it is an original piece that Atsuo asked an art student to draw. Atsuo used to be a professional boxer, the cover is a rendition of him collapsed in the ring.

Besides that, a very, very cool release. Got reprimanded on my first listen from my parents because I was listening to it super loud in the car. It’s a vibrant, almost plunderphonic take on ... read more

I'm pretty sure ive cried every time ive listened to this and i still have no fucking idea why? i really want to write a full review on this but i don't have much else to say besides its probably my favorite electronic song ever. Maybe I’ll be able to explain why soon. Remind me to try! >_<

Daughters - You Won't Get What You Want

insipid limp pitchforkbait that is worse by leaps and bounds than anything else the band did (not a high bar). even outside of alexis’s horrible actions and how they reframe everything here, this album is embarrassing. a sasscore/more broadly punk band neutering all of the actual rawness and edge they had for the sake of what i can only assume to be mainstream critics, who naturally ate this up. shameful and pathetic by every metric imaginable

my favorite track by suban I’ve heard so far…. he has a vast discog that i need to go thru but I. Love this so much!!!,!,!,!

I like this more than the album version! Both are fantastic, but this one just has something special about it. Feels more floaty. Soothes my nerves. Heavenly love

might be the worst thing I’ve ever heard in my life. it’s also, naturally, genius

edit: not the worst thing ive heard, just really good actually

Horațiu Rădulescu / Vincent Royer / Gérard Caussé - Intimate Rituals

i don’t really know how they did this at all. i love how at the moments where the strings are super high and insane between each of the tones(?) theres this strange sound thats the rubbing of something un-string like it sounds almost oral at times like a popping noise
insane interdimensional string pieces. second one is a bit weaker, or just different because it seems to be defined by its almost marching rhythm rather than its timbre. everything else here is fantastic though. the title ... read more

比較的真理子 [Mariko Hikakuteki] - 堀田 (Horita)

i don’t know if this is anything but to have such a tactile feeling record with all of its concrete sounds and creaks and general messiness and acoustic physicality being sung by this disembodied usually seperate-from-identity, seperate-from-reality almost, vocalsynth; it really strikes me especially since its mixed in a very spatial-minded lo-fi sort of way. its as if shes straining to exist like shes just crawled out of something into a bleak room all of a sudden and shes shivering. i ... read more
