Akogare is a Japanese verb that means yearning, longing or aspiration. Despite the fact that I don't speak the language, I can feel this definition in the tunes. This is a pretty ambitious record. Eclectic influences seem present here, or perhaps an influence to be eclectic. These songs are all fun to listen to. I wish I could understand the language. The production is simple, not many bells or whistles. I like this choice. The mix is smooth and it allows Mila J's voice to really shine. Honest lyrics that deal in more than just the normal cliches of r&b. Lyrics that indicate that the person behind them is talking about a real lived relationship. Track 4 features a male singer called MIGH-X who reminds me of Frank Ocean with his melodic creativity.
