Empress Of - For Your Consideration
69

Empress Of's latest album presents a blend of exquisite pop moments intertwined with Lorelay's familiar vocal prowess. However, the album's strong inclination towards embracing the Latin music trend may not necessarily work in its favor. Despite this, more than half of the tracks stand out and are likely to find a lasting place on listeners' favorite playlists. While not reaching the pinnacle of Empress Of's discography, this album still showcases the artist's talent and ability to craft ... read more

In the wake of 2023's celestial journey with "Red Moon in Venus," Kali Uchis gracefully pivots back to her Latin roots, embracing the sonic trail laid by some of the tracks from her debut album, "Isolation." With a rhythm that pulsates with unmistakable Latin flair, this album marks a homecoming for Uchis. While it might introduce the basics of latin sounds to non-Spanish-speaking ears, in the Latin American realm, it appears as just another reggaeton chapter, sprinkled with ... read more

FINNEAS - Optimist
NR

Does the world really needed a finneas album? His constant efforts to be in the spotlight (like appearing on Billie's videos, pose on all Billie's red carpet pictures, etc) lead him to this very disappointing album. Although his strength as a producer is remarkable, he should stick to it and quit trying to be a star, look at Max Martin, best producer of our generation and not once has he look to be upfront.

Orlando Weeks - A Quickening
74

There is no doubt that one of Week's strength is his soft, milky tone. Since he was in The Maccabees, the band stand out from other indie because of Orlando's voice. This album actually lets him showcase his voice with atmospheric music that put his voice in the center of each song. Still there are no hooks or stand outs throughout the album. It flows like water, when you realize it, it's gone. Personally I'm missing some peaks or climax moments, "Blood, Love or Nothing" might be the ... read more

Owen Pallett - Island
77

This is Owen's Pallet most mature and cohesive work to date. A Bloody Morning is the song that is most reminiscent of previous work, very near to "In Conflict" but still has a wider structure and range of emotions. The whole album falls flat though, having no outstanding emotional peaks or lows, but still is very very enjoyable.
