Patrick Wolf - Crying The Neck

A glorious return from Patrick Wolf. Waiting 14 years for a new album (or 13 if you count Sundark & Riverlight), listening to this record feels like meeting an old friend you haven't seen in so long, but talking as if you had never been apart. This is a somber record, but it is beautiful, containing gorgeous string arrangements and some chaotic electronic sounds here and there, reminiscent of his early work. And his vocals are as strong as ever.

Lady Gaga - MAYHEM

Love hearing Gaga so inspired like this! I remember watching the Abracadabra video premiere and feeling the kind of excitement I felt around her work in college. I'd cut a couple of songs out, but otherwise a great album, phenomenal first half run.

HIGHLIGHTS: Abracadabra, Zombieboy, Killah, Vanish Into You

Looking forward to whatever genre she ... read more

青葉市子 [Ichiko Aoba] - Luminescent Creatures

I'm a big fan of Ichiko's Windswept Adan and 0 albums, and love the lone singles she's released in the past few years. But this album doesn't do it as much for me. It's still beautiful, it's still soothing, but I can't help but feel there's something missing in some of these tracks. Perhaps I need to give it more spins, or maybe I would've gotten it if I hadn't missed her live show. Time will tell.

HIGHLIGHTS: Luciferine, SONAR, COLORATURA, ... read more
