As a fan of Sonic Youth I was recommended to check this compilation out. On first listen I only liked the Contortions tracks, but it's held up really well with time (DNA especially have grown on me).

i've never listened to anything by cloud nothings before this so i was taken aback by the very low user number here.

maybe something like "attack on memory" or another of their previous albums is "better", and maybe i'll even think so when i listen to it,

really cool production, blends some electronic, shoegaze??, and other sounds in a way i haven't seen before

it's not perfect in a very nice way, e.g the drumming sometimes

this is probably because of nostalgia, but i really like everything on here. some slightly more than others. "morning dreams" and the deluxe tracks to me are far less memorable.

i read some of the reviews before first listening, and this was a bit different from my expectations.
firstly, it's a lot less "loud" or "noisy" then some of the reviews say, at least to my tastes.

the amount of ripoffs this has caused in the years following is crazy

the album itself is great and i like most of the tracks on here, but there are so many people copying this style that it makes 'stratosphere' just a bit worse.

i know of 'injection' purely because a link to bubba's website from the new year's, a good ambient album.

i listened to 'injection' at the lowest possible volume while doing work and this was great for that. sits well in the back of your mind, or maybe just knowing that something is playing does. in any case, this added to my time.

i give this an 85 because i see no flaws in it as an ambient album, not higher because of the nature of purely ambient music for me ... read more
