Cloud Nothings have delivered record after record of catchy, energetic songs without getting stale or repetitive. Final Summer continues that streak.
Final Summer is another strong album from a remarkably consistent band, but it's the wisdom, maturity, and joy Cloud Nothings bring to it makes it an especially satisfying listen.
From the moment it starts to its very last note, Final Summer comes rich with gargantuan hooks that make you feel alive.
Final Summer is more than just a lovely little dose of the same ol' well-aged, humble rock ‘n’ roll; it’s all the lessons learned along the way, contextualized as a genuinely charming return.
Perhaps the most significant reflection of Baldi’s essence as a songwriter is that Final Summer is a record that continues to impress upon you with every listen. The pieces change context, and your favourites shift as exquisite subtleties are discovered.
The band continues their no-miss reputation with a set of huge-sounding tracks that significantly represent the current era of the band.
Even if Final Summer probably won't cause a big enough stir to get an anniversary reissue a decade from now, like 2012's Attack on Memory recently did, it's yet another solid rock record from a reliable group who are very good at this sort of thing.
Baldi has clearly carved out his own corner of plainspoken wisdom; on Final Summer, unfortunately, the songs don’t quite do his insights justice.
How do you know it’s the final summer wtf is the world gonna explode HUH shhdshdgsgsg
Fun indie rock! I actually enjoyed this. Quite a weird switch up from how Cloud Nothings usually sound though. I haven’t listened to much else other than Attack on Memory and their record after that one. Their sound is usually pretty aggressive but here we feel things back a bit with just a bunch of catchy melodies. The title track is definitely my fav on here, I was super surprised. There are sweet spots here and there, but nothing to rattle the cage or come back to. Pretty standard.
oh boy i've never heard them this poppy. Less Grunge than before. It's been a while since i last checked them out and that break really helped in enjoying this.
Unfortunately, despite a few good songs, this band just sounds like every other indie band. The lead singer has lost his magical vocal rawness that really worked so well on 2012's "Attack on Memory".
i've never listened to anything by cloud nothings before this so i was taken aback by the very low user number here.
maybe something like "attack on memory" or another of their previous albums is "better", and maybe i'll even think so when i listen to it,
but i really like this.
very fun 11 songs (yes i am counting the bonus track "the prince"), with the majority being highlights.
maybe not with the most intricate of lyrics and composition, but ... read more
