This album is so magnificently queer. Drinking sangria in the park? Ok queen. Satellite of Love? Just call him a slut. 'Make-up' is basically an early draft of 'I'm Coming Out' by Diana Ross. TRANSformer? oh, how subtle. In the meantime David Bowie is being a nasty little freak in the background. Delightful!
They always had a knack for atmospheric long bridges, but now they're going full Khruangbin, especially in the back half of the album
Bigger, bolder production than back in 05 and 09, they're louder, rougher, and revigorated.
An amazing balance between poppunk and hardcore, with a touch of 1997 lilith fair pop. Ironically, "balance" is the worst track on the album, with it's centrist leaning message...
Blasting Rap with a touch of 90s R&B, a bit of mid 10s funk never as tacky.
