I will defend this album as being nothing short of borderline perfection till the day I die. deemed 'must hear' for a reason, this album did for metalcore what korn's self titled did for nu metal. if 'is it really you' is played at my funeral and I don't arise sobbing, I'm definitely dead.
one of the most criminally underrated albums of the past decade. whilst 'hostage' often gets lumped in with the 2010s infinite number of 'that's the spirit' wannabes, the plot in you manages to create an album so hopeful and yet so mournful it's genuinely scary.
all the weirdness and experimental moments prada demonstrated in 'the act', mixed with 2000s emo nostalgia and then sprinkled with brain-melting breakdowns. it doesn't get much better then this tbh.
