So much raw emotion poured into 8 tracks. 12 Stout Street has to be the darkest and emotionally charged intro over ever heard and the whole project is like that. Definitely a unique album.
After revisiting Dijon’s debut masterpiece, I went into this album knowing he was the glue that put that album together. His first solo debut is a strong one as he perfectly blends 80’s rock and r&b in a dark but atmospheric style. Visually and sound this guy nails it perfectly and I hope more in the future he really lets his vocals shine more on the tracks.
Favourite song: Are You Looking Up
This album has me in a trance. Right now shoegaze is so popular that you could say it’s oversaturated but I really recommend this album. Best way to describe it is it’s like a hardcore dream pop record. It’s beautiful and has me in a chokehold on repeat listens. Just pure comfort and I’m looking forward to hearing more from this band.
Classic Album Review: 10 years later and this is an essential album of the last decade. Imo this project should be in the same conversation as Madvillainy for its supreme production value, hard punches of lyricism, and lasting impact on Freddie Gibbs career. Songs like Thuggin and Shame are some of the best production I’ve heard from Madlib and demonstrate Gibbs rapping ability at its finest. Best way to describe the album is it sets the scene for an old school movie you’d probably ... read more
Compared to last years project, this new one has more of a nostalgic and optimistic tone to it. Nothing new was added to the overall soundscape but the overall feeling grows of yearning to travel back in time to a simpler but better time is what I get from a lot of the songs on this. Sometimes the distortions and heavy guitar can be a little overwhelming but gives a feeling of a foggy cloud being unveiled slowly. Definitely not the best project by them but still very strong one. Lastly Evoke Me ... read more
I wanted to be optimistic about this but the singles gave me hope that this was gonna sound good and to my surprise I was still right.
First things first the only positive thing I can say is if you listen to to the project and turn your brain off then you can find it enjoyable and she’s done pretty well to mold the sound she has on here but even then it doesn’t go any further then her last project.
Not much to say without being called a hater but it’s hard to give this ... read more
Took me a while to really get into Bladee, but this one really made me a fan.
So much is put into this mixtape that even at 30 tracks it rarely feels like there is any filler on here. The main sound on this project in the best way I can describe it is a melodic raged out beats over distorted vocals to glitched out trap that sounds out of this world.
From an initial perspective the album sounded like a mess but on further listens the lyrics captured me in a void of despair and dissonance that ... read more
Swifties out here punching the air right now.
Best Pop album I’ve heard all year.

It stank don’t it! Future Sacramento legend in the making! SOME REAL TRAP SHIT!
From its strong intro song and one strong single, I was excited to see what kind of looney ass bars and jokes that the first album did well come to play on second runaround. Sadly this album just boils down to him trying so hard to bring what the first one did so well with lackluster bars and overall it loses its magic in a majority of its run. From the wack ass Trinidad James featured song to a lackluster back half Wolf seems to only be running on most of the album but can’t finish a ... read more
From show stopping ballads, to amazing and catchy pop singles this is a very strong debut that deserves a lot of the praise I’ve seen. It may not sound too different from the pop music that’s been coming out in recent years but is definitely a really enjoyable project and doesn’t feel like it takes itself so seriously compared to its contemporary’s. Besides imo a weak string of ending songs this is a good album and I’d highly recommend a listen.
On my revisit of albums that came out last year, this is a hidden gem that I should’ve gave more love too.
A lovely record that uses the electronic sounds on the album to create a unique feeling of nostalgia, warmth, and longing. Tracks like 2003, Deja Vu, and Let u Go are all perfect atmospheric songs that this album does so beautifully throughout its hr long runtime.
Definitely recommend this one especially if you’re looking for some electronic r&b comfort to escape into. ... read more
Why does this album’s production go so hard?! On first listen I could’ve swore I was listening to a trap album but really going into it, the production quality is off the walls but is the only thing that makes me like it. I can appreciate Kim Gordon for creating such an experimental sound but the vocals are just not doing it for me. Maybe down the road a may feel different but as of right the vocals and lyrics are only thing keeping me from truly loving this record.
“Nigga did I catch you having fun?!”
I would’ve never expected to hear Mike have this much fun on a record. His collaboration with Tony Seltzer provides for a more energetic Mike and proves that he can still improve his sound. Last years album was already an amazing shakeup that has returned to my musical rotation and this new joint is just another addition to his godlike run in the underground rap sphere.
Am I cooked for liking this?
On a real note, this new gen coming into the rap scene are creating some interesting and wild music and Xaviersobased latest project is all too catchy and addictive compared to its contemporary’s. The little conversations all throughout the album are corny af and made me tune out at times but the record embodies the stupid fun I use to get out of old hyphy music. Overall pretty fun project.
Really enjoyable album from Roc, 2nd half hits hard as bricks and songs like Bad Juju and LeFlair beats are hauntingly beautiful and he’s able to easily float on the beats. Larry June and Jay worthy have some good guest verses and every artist compliment each well on here. Overall super solid project.
First week this album came out, I was in love with it. From the beautiful cover art, amazing singles, and new sound this album was a blast to dive into. After much time I decided to revisit it and I can still confidently say they really improved their sound but overall the album is far from being a standout record with plenty a places to improve and differentiate their new sound. Not to go into too deep but at its best the project can almost come off as a really good Radiohead offshoot but at ... read more
I Got heaven was a song that had me hooked to a band that I slept on too frequently and when the album got announced I was excited. Now after hearing the project in full this my expectations are blown out the water. From first listen I was not prepared to hear some of the most incredibly raw vocals to come out the first song for the album to simmer down into melodic soft indie sounds to go to straight up punk rock bangers, and to all finalize into an all around great album with many different ... read more
This small town band is definitely making a name for themselves. This album is catchy and packs a lot of punch. A straight up banger from front to back and I can’t wait to see how they continue improve their sound with further exposure.
