3rd review of my LE SSERAFIM DEEP DIVE:
A step up artistically, from their previous stumble, but some musical terrorism in the mix... we are still far behind from their glory days. Most of this project just rehashes and repackages their songs they've already done, but in a worse way, and tries some new sounds in the meantime, but it also has the 2 worst songs of their career.
"Chasing Lighting", one more typical intro, but it is actually a pretty good one, the techno beat is ... read more
2nd review of my LE SSERAFIM DEEP DIVE:
Continuous fall off in quality in comparison to they previous project, which was already worse than the previous 2. This project starts the very identifiable characteristic of LE SSERAFIM that will plague them for the rest of their discography, lack of identity and copying sounds that are trendy. There is quite literally nothing here that is exciting or unique, it's all been done before and better.
"Good Bones", typical intro of theirs, ... read more
1st review of my LE SSERAFIM DEEP DIVE:
The first time LE SSERAFIM slipped, and they have never truly come back. This project tries some new sounds they had not yet, but the results weren't all that great, it felt like the producers had a desire to set the group apart from their peers (the ridiculous names are a given of that), but it just doesn't work that well sonically. Apart from the useless versions which i won't talk about, this albums had some cute songs and some mid ... read more
I should not have started their discography from the last songs, because this had some pretty good songs in it.
The singles i already knew, and they are... very very bad. "Debut" is incredibly basic and forgettable. The chants in the chorus are irritating, the production is bad, everything is boring. "Touch" could have been significantly better, had it not been for that horrendous repetitive chorus.
However, the album tracks are all much better. "My Way" and ... read more
Half of this album is really good, and the other half is either bad or forgetable.
"Best Believe", "Don't Wanna Get Up", "Love Can Make A Way", "MTV" and "Wasteland" are the highlights of the album. They make sense with the concept, they are bright songs that go from dance, to r&B to pop rock. All different but coexist in a cohesive way, and standing alone, all of them are very well made and fun to listen to, the best tracks Irene has ... read more
I definitely liked this record but i find it very conflicting. The tracks on this album are definitely much more eletropop and dancepop oriented than the indie and glitchy hyperpop sound underscores did before, also being significantly less willing to experiment. It was definitely an enjoyable time with great highlights ("Music", "Do It", "Tell Me U Want It"). I might say this was the album from her that i enjoyed the most musically speaking.
But it does not at all ... read more
This is her least known and streamed project, and i don't understand why. The house, jack swing sound here is very fun, every song is enjoyable. It is the perfect bridge between the previous album, "Rhythm of Love", which was fully diva house, and the next one, "Kylie Minogue", heavy r&b and trip-hop elements, mixing these two sounds together very well here. It might not be as good as those two, but i really did enjoy it and recommend this as the starting project to ... read more
Everything here is disgustingly and embarasingly bad. God awful rapping, and their singing is borderline ear assault. If i wanted to hear Travis Scott or Carti (whose music i do not enjoy, but understand the appeal), i would listen to them, not these black wannabes that stole his drive and released his unfinished half assed demos.
And to make it worse, all other boy groups followed their shitprint and tried to be black for a comeback too. This is one of the worst projects in K-Pop ever, and it ... read more
I continue to be puzzled as to why Kanye's dick continues to be ridden by y'all like this. I've heard most of his projects since Yeezus and all of it is ass, this being some of the mustiest, stankiest of them all. At least until "The Life of Pablo" there was experimentation, but this is just a bunch of poorly made, unfinished beats with terrible rapping on top.
His opinions should have been enough to kill his career, but i hope this shit album allows everyone that is ... read more
Very disappoiting record. She has pretty good songs in her catalogue, but they shine the most in songs like Time Of My Life, 2010's anthemic eletropop, or Perfect For You, melodic dance pop with catchy melodies. But in "Porcelain", she rarely does this ('Celebrity Crush', 'Oasis', 'Out Loud' are the only ones i remember), and instead does basic, generic pop with no personality at all.
She clearly wanted this to be a more personal record, a brand new ... read more
This is so hyped that i came into this expecting something insane, but it was very disappointing. I think these songs are well built, but it just came and went, nothing stuck. I cannot for the sake of me remember a single song. The songs are emotional and the lyrics are pretty but the production never really went anywhere and their voices were a bit too drowned out i guess, but still, i did not expect to get so bored listening to this. I feel like if i listen to this a lot of times, maybe i ... read more
I'm not that big of a fan of Kelela, i've heard her albums, eps and remix albums and nothing has really caught me. This was different. This live album, which i put aside for a year is stunning, insane, some of the best stuff i have ever heard. Jazz and neo soul are where Kelela shines the most to me, her voice suits these genres perfectly.
Her tone, the dynamics of her singing, everything feels smooth like butter, it's insane.
It starts off weak, the first two tracks reminded me ... read more
They definitely give me hope for future K-Pop. "Focus" (the song) is amazing, the house sound is done perfectly here and it opened a very good mini album. The ep sounds quite different from the title track but all the tracks come together great to form a pretty cohesive experience.
I want to mention specifically "Pretty Please", which is very reminiscent of Girls' Generation, and is such a good song too. The other 3 tracks are all very pleasant aswell, even if not ... read more
I expected this to be awful, and it truly was that and more. BTS have never interested me, their music is insanely boring and feels like it was made purely to sell as much as they can and to seem very deep and above their peers while actually being below most of them.
Their rapping is very simple, obnoxious and stuck up and their vocalists are very bad (the autotune is used so much, and very badly). All of these things, which affected all songs i have heard from them, were heightened here. ... read more
Such a strong run to start the album and then it falls off really bad. Track 1 to 6, is the best run in tracks this year. Brutus, Hot Goblin, Unicorn, just insane. Em's voice really suits these tracks, her melodies are great and the production sounds very unique. Afterwards this becomes insane aswell, insanely boring. The melodies become annoying and the production overdone and generic. The tracks no longer sound fun, they become monotous. They had potential if she reworked some melodic ... read more
It's a good project, but for Mitski standards, is it really good? This album brings back sounds from all her previous albums (except for Laurel Hell ofc), but it does nothing very interesting or innovating with them.
The tracks that go the path of Americana are beautiful, but they would be weak tracks on The Land Is Unhospitable... . Mitski also does some rock reminiscent of Puberty 2 and Bury Me... but it's lackluster in comparison. The folkier tracks are again, pretty pleasant but ... read more
Conflicting but i don't think it's bad by any means. This EP feels like jump and 4 solo tracks (GO is Jennie's, Me and My is LISA's, Champion is Jisoo's and Fxxxboy is Rosé's). Due to this, it is incredibly uncohesive and feels more like a compilation rather than an actual project, with no track having any sonic correlation to the next, and while this isn't inherently a bad thing, here it definitely is, because there is no direction, just throw shit at ... read more
noah really surprised me. her last album mixed country and pop elements but here she went fully into country folk, and that's the best path she could have taken. her voice is beautiful here, the entire album sounds really nostalgic and bittersweet, it's just a great project really, the best country album in years.
p.s. XXX is the best song on here, it's crazy good, especially the outro, it's crazy to see it be the lowest rated, and worse, YELLOW RATED
nostalgic pop punk. the singles were better than the album itself, but overall a good record. i have to confess however, this sound like the music that played in a gay p*rn story telling game i played (it was actually a good story, dont hate me), don't ask questions on this, but i can't take this album that seriously when i am reminded of gay p*rn when hearing it
