The combination of the tone and the vocals scream dad rock to me, not much interesting happens on this album. Probably not for me
This album is really a product of its time. Music production has become a lot easier and also saturated. A solo project of a kid layering layers apon layers in his bedroom ( that could never be played live) can make an album that can rival that of multi billion companies in terms of sound quality. This makes you blend in the new masses.
So the response nowadays is to add a human touch by purposely "ruining" the mix of the album.
