I’m fucking devastated and this is the most emotionally resonant and potent piece of music I’ve ever heard. Phil’s descriptions of death and specifically death caused by cancer are an emotional ass kicking for the listener. This albums is a perfect 10/10 but like many others I don’t think I can add it to my 10s or rate it at all.

Ok nvm this is actually my favorite non-NFR Lana album. There isn’t really a bad song here (except for the trio interlude which is almost comically stupid) and cherry blossom might be my favorite non-NFR Lana song. I know it might seem stupid to separate her career into nfr and non-nfr but it goes to show the gap that I perceive between that album and the rest of her stuff. I think after NFR, Lana matured a lot as a musician, although I don’t think she’s reached the height of that record since. That being said I’d rather listen to any of her records after that album than any before. Chemtrails is a pretty solid project with a few great songs but most of the songs just blend into each other.

I know my previous reviews of Lana’s albums might hurt my chances, but if it helps I’ve listened to this album 3 times and I’ve loved it every time. Easily (and I mean very easily) her best album. This is probably my favorite so far, chronologically. It has the most good songs up to this point, but holy shit does it have a few low points. God bless America is her worst song so far, who thought that that song would be a good idea. The next song continues the “political message,” just as poorly as the previous song. I think that my problem with most of Lana del Rey’s music is that almost every song is too long with no change throughout their extended runtimes. I have no new commentary to add about this project. It sounds like the rest of her stuff.
