mgk - Tickets To My Downfall

I gave this album a try.
Disingenuine punk rock wanna-be Machine Gun Kelly makes a very angsty yet misguided album about his unoriginal takes on shallow relationships, "emotions," drinking, and making bad choices that comes off very bland. He really wants us to know that he's cool and does drugs while talking to his friends on the phone, so much so that he made an interlude about it.
The whole thing felt fake and devoid of depth.

Oliver Tree - Cowboy Tears

Over half of the songs are Oliver playing guitar in the key of G with some hip hop beats thrown in, culminating in an unfortunately forgettable album with maybe 2 songs that sort of stand out. Oliver's vision on this album left a lot to be desired and I think he can do better.

SAINt JHN - Ghetto Lenny's Love Songs

This album is a fusion of modern trap-style Hip Hop and melody-driven, emotional R&B. SAINt JHN's brand of singing can't be simply pigeon-holed to sing-rap; his vocal style is uniquely his own. His note choice and gritty timbre form a beautiful baritone lead. In the sophomore album "Ghetto Lenny's Love Songs," SJ capitalizes on the ideas and styles presented in his breakout album "Collection One" with a more complete and clear sense of direction. It's very hard for me to ... read more

Tame Impala - Currents
97

In my personal opinion, this is one of the most ambitious, unapologetic, innovative albums in 21st century pop music.
Kevin Parker reinvents his sound in Tame Impala's 3rd studio album, seemlessly blending elements of psychedelia, trance, synth-pop, funk, 80's-style dreampop, and progressive rock. The listener is taken on a narrative journey through isolation, loss, depression, self-criticism, and exploration of the self. Parker paves the road in "Currents" using a wave of different ... read more

The Beatles - Abbey Road

The Beatles' pinnacle of artistic creativity, atypical song format, and peak weird. This album encompasses the dark and the light of the band in the best of ways, from the airy and beautiful melodies of songs like "Something" and "Here Comes The Sun" to the dark and eeriness of "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" and "Because," the album masterfully blends a wide range of tone and depth. Even sillier tunes such as "Octopus's Garden" and ... read more
