SAULT - Chapter 1

Chapter 1 and good things will come are really good songs but I don’t think the rest of the album is good enough for this to be an overall good album

Natanya - Feline's Return

I feel like a lot of albums have the issue of being too similar with their instrumentals and not having enough lyrics making it quite monotonous, or the songs being too different to the point the vibe is off. I think this album is a really good in between all the tracks are similar but different and the lyrics give it a bit of nuance. I also appreciate that unlike a lot of rnb / pop artists she does not only sing about sex etc. my girlfriend keeps telling me Natanya is the next big up and ... read more

Althea & Donna - Uptown Top Ranking
100

This is one of, if not my favourite album. There is nothing wrong with it; the fact that it was meant to be improvised makes it even better and carefree. Definitely underrated with the ratings it currently has on here.

Tom Waits - Blue Valentine
81

I don't know if I have much to say about this, jazz and blues have always combined so well, and the emotions they evoke are so strong. This album is a good epitome of that emotion.

Nate Mercereau - Joy Techniques

For an instrumental album, it is far better than most. The use of rock and jazz is a nice touch, and I think the use of electric guitar, drums and synth adds to a jazz piece something that every listener can relate to, whereas jazz seems to be for a select audience. Even for an instrumental album, all pieces seem to have such a distinct difference, which is lovely.

Dévics - The Stars at Saint Andrea

Love a bit of shoegaze, in addition with dream-pop, makes it very mellow. I think the emphasis on instrumental backings is always a really good addition with more melancholy female voices

Rachid Taha - Rock'N'Raï
59

I like the fusion of different cultures and languages within music. Arab funk is a really upbeat genre, and this album encompasses that need to move and dance well, making it a bit more mellow with the inclusion of rock. I don't think this is an album I'd listen to again as folk is not my favourite, but if I were abroad and this was playing at dinner id feel cheerful.

Gorillaz - Cracker Island
68

This was not my personal favourite of the gorillaz discography, but it was overall enjoyable. I think having tame impala as a feature was cohesive as they both use a lot of synth in their music, but other collabs were very much lost in the album. My fav song on this was Baby Queen !
