How to write a song on this EP:
- Start with some crunchy "oh oh ooohs"
- The snare is a clap
- The chorus has a hit on every beat and must be playable with one finger on a keyboard
- Be careful not to step out of the pentatonic scale!
- Write some mind-numbing "motivational" lyrics
- Don't forget to mix absurdly loud so that every instrument melds together
This should not work but it does. The amount of ideas packed into this EP would make some 1 hour albums crumble under their weight. But somehow every moment leads perfectly into the next, every little guitar line flows into the upcoming chord, every rhythm sets up the next. The ideas switch so rapidly that it threatens to feel exhausting yet every section transitions so smoothly that it is difficult to imagine any part decoupled from the rest.

Some neat ideas and an overall enjoyable sound. But everytime they open up an interesting and important topic they undermine it by a stupid line or untimely riff.
I think the mix of upbeat pop-punk with depressing topics is meant to be rebellious in spite of the world. But to me it makes the album feel ignorant.
(Also the image of independent underdogs doesn't work for me since I got Youtube Ads for their first single back in the day.)
