Boards of Canada - Inferno
95

After over a decade hiatus boards of Canada has released their (what I believe to be) companion album to geogaddi. If geogaddi is a deep dive into the soundscapes of pure evil and darkness, inferno is the pushing through that darkness to the light that comes after. It’s finding god after a dance with the devil. Inferno is a playfully sinister rollercoaster of ambient soundscapes mixed into more traditional sounding boc tracks that still push the boundaries of what they have previously ... read more

The Scythe - Strictly 4 The Scythe
64

Scythe is the new collective of rappers fronted by denzel curry who I have been a fan of for quite a while. It’s a fun album that isn’t really meant to reinvent the wheel or do anything other then present a handful of catchy tunes, although this doesn’t make up for its lack of Memorability and moments of blandness.

Favourite song: TAN
Least favourite: YOU AINT GOTTA LIE

JPEGMAFIA - EXPERIMENTAL RAP
47

Peggy has been one of my favourite artists in hip hop for years now and to see him have such a fall off with this album is just devastating. There is maybe about 5 songs I do like on here and considering it’s 25 tracks long, the good stuff is completely overshadowed by the length. A lot of people consider the production to be the best part of the project yet I don’t really see it, Peggy’s production influences on this album feel really outdated and they don’t really ... read more

The Strokes - Falling out of Love
10

Somehow even worse then the last single, at least that one was semi catchy. Horrendous autotune and uninteresting instrumentation. We are really in for a real shitshow with this next project.

JPEGMAFIA - War Over Land
85

Sounds a lot fresher then the previous single he dropped. Extremely beautiful sounding production, as per usual Peggy doesnt have much to say but the beat progression makes up for it significantly.

Charli xcx - Rock Music
60

This song was fine. I dont get why people are acting like releasing this was a cardinal sin or something, it seems more like a satirical intro track or interlude from her next project then a serious single. Not something id ever listen to throughout my day but its passable.

Boards of Canada - Prophecy At 1420 MHz
100

Retreads the same territory while also being something completely new. Boards of canada manage to reinvent themselves and still come out with quality material after a long 13 year hiatus. Terrifyingly brilliant track.

MIKE - POMPEII // UTILITY
40

As much as it love earl and mike this albums was sooooooo boooriing!!! I know they have their own sleepy vocal style that they use here and there which i quite like usually, on this record they push it to the max. It sounds like they took a bunch of sleeping pills in the booth. Its basically the same song played over 20 times with nothing intresting added to the mix whatsoever.

Kanye West - BULLY
20

Some people may see this as an improvement from previous releases. I am not some people. Maybe not as horribly mixed but with kanyes sleepy, uninterested vocal performances and some sloppy production choices its still just as mind numbing as his previous couple albums.

Slayyyter - WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA
85

A loud, abrasive, filthy pop explosion that not only delves hard into its aggressive electronic atmosphere but uses it as a tool to experiment and show variety with its style .I have heard several similar albums but I havent heard one quite as confident and defiant.

JPEGMAFIA - babygirl
70

Feels samey to a lot of recent music from Peggy yet still an enjoyable track.

Flying Lotus - 1983
80

I know this is a reissue but im gonna review it anyway. Flying lotus first project is a funky, innovative and heavily psychedelic journey. He pretty much invents his signature style right off the bat. The album feels like a musical equivalent of a space opera.

By Storm - My Ghosts Go Ghost
88

This album feels like a drunk dreary nightwalk through an alley in the best way possible. The duo still manages to push boundaries and reinvent themselves and show they have the staying power even after tragedy.

Thundercat - Distracted
65

I enjoyed this album but it does have its issues. Distracted has some incredible highs, I love him doubling down on the spacey Ethereal vibes that he showed glimmers of in his previous projects but overall it isnt that memorable with most tracks kinda just breezing by.

underscores - U
85

Underscores manages to reinvent herself with every single release. U is an explosive, catchy, electropop epic which bring her one step closer to becoming one of the greatest popstars of this generation. The confidence is certainly there.

The Strokes - Going Shopping
40

Actually laughable

A$AP Rocky - Don't Be Dumb
66

Has some very solid tracks scattered throughout yet as a whole project it isnt as memorable as previous releases.

Flying Lotus - BIG MAMA
50

Doesnt give itself enough breathing room to explore its ideas. Has some cool concepts but leaves more to be desired.
