Inscryptions - Demo
95

Love these lads. Still need to catch them live.

NembutoliK - All Along the Frankston Line
90

Local legends in my scene. Work of art, and the nicest people you will ever meet..

Balmora - These Graven Halls
1

"Yo, lets release a shit and generic metalcore album, then when our guitarist is revealed as a disgusting person lets make a really terrible response to the situation and then breakup." - Ballsmora probably. Fuck this band.

Converge - Jane Doe
93

First time listening I thought this was so intimidating and hard to take in to the point I really disliked it. But then I tried it again... and again, and then I have ended up listening to it about 5 times now. Fantastic piece of work, but I still prefer You Fail Me and their 1st of their 2 more recent outings, Love is not Enough. Cannot wait for Hum of Hurt tomorrow!

Loathe - Revenant
95

Ooooooh how I long for July 17th...

Chamber - this is goodbye…

Viooooooooooolence.

Static Dress - Injury Episode
100

Static Dress really have flourished into a defined sound that manages to kick ass and kick me in the teeth emotionally.

Deafheaven - Ordinary Corrupt Human Love
89

Been on a bit of a Deafheaven wave the past couple of days, so I figured its time to do a deep-discog-dive (I forgot about Roads to Judah so that will come last), and surprise, surprise, this is yet again a beautiful listen. In contrast to their previous outing, being New Bermuda, this album leans into the softer elements of their sound, which is not a bad thing at all actually! I enjoy Deafheavens dynamic shifts and their stylistic approach to music, and this album is a blend of both, ... read more

Deafheaven - New Bermuda
93

Deafheavens heaviest record to date, which is very appealing to me as their heavy parts go batshit insaneo. This is the Deafheaven album I have listened to the most, but I can't in good faith say it surpasses Sunbather because truly.. what does?

Deafheaven - Sunbather
100

There is no flaws in the slightest with album, absolute perfection.
This album carries a frenetic, solemn energy that only masterclass acts can produce.

Hoping to see them live in the coming months.

Joji - Piss In The Wind
78

Yeah, I see the criticisms. Are they valid? Well, yeah - the album is too long to have such short songs and the album seems more filler than killer at times, but to be honest... I love it. Practically the whole thing. It came out at the perfect time in my life and I have listened to this album around 7 times. It feels so easily accessible, even more so as a Joji fan and someone who grew up on 2016 YouTube (yikes..!)
I feel as if Joji really adapted musically in this album, creating what HE ... read more

Mitski - Nothing's About to Happen to Me
61

I went into this fairly unfamiliar with Mitski, aside from knowing the hits and I left... decently surprised!
I have never really gotten into her stuff but respect her and how massive she truly is in the music sphere, so I went into this with really no expectations at all. I liked it. That's really all to it, but my only issue (hence why I gave it a fairly low score) is that no one song really stuck with me..? Maybe that's because this isn't necessarily my scene of music, but who ... read more

Periphery - A Pale White Dot
55

Periphery have released their weakest offering so far.
By no means a terrible album in the slightest, but a very underwhelming album. It seems they abandoned their complexity (time sigs wise, this albums complexity fluctuates song to song) to seem more accessible and it feels a little commercialized with the shoehorned metal segments in various songs. But, that being said some songs hit, and they can hit HARD. Subhuman featuring Will Ramos is a kick to the teeth in contrast to the prior song ... read more

Converge - Love Is Not Enough
100

Converge drop an outstanding album. In other news, water is wet..

Varials - WHERE THE LIGHT LEAVES
75

Skyler Conder's vocals are something else, man. To hear him and Kyle Medina on a song would be dope as fuck I reckon.
This album is aggressive as hell but has very deep emotional weight to it. The Hurt Chamber and Romance II (the best song off the record) are as haunting as they are headbang worthy.

The album, although sounding fantastic does get fairly repetitive near the end, and a few songs at the start all kind of blur into one for me, but it isn't really an issue when all of the ... read more

Bodysnatcher - Hell Is Here, Hell Is Home
88

Bodysnatcher, as per usual, deliver a masterclass in unwavering aggression in its purest form.

Kyle Medina is one of the most brutal vocalists I have heard in recent memory with so much vehemence in his pronunciation and accenting of lyrics ("Happy Father's Day, Mike. FUCK YOU!").
The instrumentals on this album feel so heavy that I get whiplash from the sheer force being produced from my headphones, and I can feel my calves burning from air drumming and trying to keep up with ... read more
