my brother recommended this to me and we have pretty much the exact same taste so im not surpised i enjoyed this album as much as i did
really the only flaw i can think of in this album is that some of the tracks were a little boring but i can’t even be mad because i can hear the effort and talent put into it

edit: i bought this album on record store day and just listened to it again — i can already tell this is one of those albums im gonna come back to and remember this time of my life through, along with all the people i love and the memories im making now

[static-8/10] this somg was my jammmm back in 2023. listening to the lyrics now is really weird because i didn’t get it back then. always really liked this song and its lyrics (didn’t understand them, just thought they were fun </3), just a little instrumentally boring but a great soft opening track

everyone saying the vocals are shit are shallow minded individuals
maybe its because i worship anything liam mccay does but this album is emotional and magical idc what anyone says
and the last friday night cover is almost haunting. not ad haunting as i threw a rock off an overpass though. that track floats around my mind i think about it all the time

this album has some of my favorite songs ever on it (strange time to be alive, it won’t always be like this) the lyrics on this album are so well written and performed and while his voice can be whiny and grating at some points throughout the album, elijah is absolutely DELIVERING (per usual)
the only negative comments i have are that some songs (like slide out the window) can get really repetitive. some of the songs on the album just don’t really match ... read more

illinois by sufjan stevens! i really love the uniqueness of his voice and the emotion expressed + the weird, lengthy titles.
i especially love casimir pulaski day, which is about struggles with grief as well as faith & religion. i really really like the line “we lift our hands and pray over your body - but nothing ever happens” this song hits HARD having grown up in the church myself
