I distinctly remember the day Bags was released.
Late afternoon, later in May of 2019 I got a youtube notification. When those first ostinato guitar chords hit my ears, I was in love. Rosalia is a storyteller for the ages.
From Los Angeles to El Mal Querer, El Mal Querer to Motomami, and Motomami to Lux, not only is her versatility, artistry and immense musicality focal, but her sonic evolution is visceral. Rascal is the most beautiful song I've heard in a long long time. The rest of the EP is full of similarly lush and heartbreaking tracks. I am such a sucker for harmonies and these two scratch that itch like no one else. It is so fulfilling to find artists whose music consistently sounds like they raised each song with absolute care, adoration, and love.
Honesty may be a boner killer, but this song just gave me one
