Wow, that was a flashback i didn't know i needed. Remember the times when people weren’t at each other’s throats and most of the world lived in relative harmony? Back when the coronavirus was still around? I like to think that much of that fragile global balance was held together by SoundCloud artists. With no big budgets behind them, these guys brought forward raw, authentic projects that always managed to find their audience. Rich Brian was one of them. And apart from many of ... read more
Yes, he is back.
After the crushing fiasco of The Big Day Chance took a huge risk and made an impressive roll-out for Star Line with the rhetoric of a big comeback. It was in fact a double-or-nothing move: another flop would have cemented his reputation as a clown and cast a long shadow over the legacy of Acid Rap and Coloring Book, but success would silence the haters and reframe The Big Day as nothing more than a momentary lapse, a stumble on an otherwise remarkable path.
So, on Star Line he ... read more
Unlike every other album that I liked, I do NOT want to relisten By the Time I Get to Phoenix in the nearest future. I actually think that this is the only album that managed to put terror on my face. And I was not prepared for it. I was listening to this album like any other album, trying to understand its multilayered, abstract production and its erratic, almost deranged lyrics, and then I suddenly realized I’d been caught in a loop of death-related thoughts for the past ten minutes. ... read more
God Does Like Ugly is another very ambitious step of Destin Route in finding the route to his destiny.
JID never was afraid of testing his boundaries as an artist, but most of this album is his most bravest rap to date. Why most? There's a segment from Sk8 to Interlude which is just a bunch of romantic songs. They are mostly ok but sound pretty banal and unoriginal to me. ESPECIALLY compared to the rest of the album, which is flooded with bold experiments and tooth-breaking lyrics. JID ... read more
A good off-season album. It's mostly sounds like his previous works but leaves hints here and there about how ADL will sound like. I think that Yeat and his permament armsman BNYX will try something very ambitious and large-scale, some kind of trap-rage-opera. You might hear this most clearly from ADL IS COMING and 2TONE. Those two tracks are a remarkable combination of broad sounding instrumental parts and raw toothbreaking rage and modern trap beats. If every track from ADL will be at ... read more
Synth music is a complex craft. Synthesizer significantly expanded the arsenal of available instruments for making music, so working with it requires developed imagination, meticolous approach and pinpoint accuracy. If your band meet this criteria, you may be able to create an extraordinary synthpop album.
but when your band also have talented instrumentalists, you may combine your synthetic background with impressive instrumental parts. Your album may have one of the most recognised guitar ... read more
Don't tap the glass is a cool break in the series of meticulously executed Tyler's albums. I bet this album was made within a week from scratch or so - that's how easy and casual it sounds. No overthinking, no complex melodies or deep concepts - just Tyler's desire to dance and to make people around move their bodies embodied in music. Of course some things on this album may appear a bit underdeveloped, but does Don't tap the glass really need it? The T's message ... read more
First, let's drop this Druski feet-licking bullshit that appears on the album.
The idea of SWAG is actually pretty thrilling. The leisurely reflexive album about love and self-love fits perfectly current JB's career phase. And on a production level this idea was realized quite accurately. Inspired by 80's pop, surround drums and delicate synth lines set the right tone for intimate and romantic dialogue. The bad thing is that Justin Bieber himself doesn't deliver much to the ... read more
Let God Sort Em Out totally lived up to the expectations. This shit is peak mafioso rap - gold chains, diamond veeners, limos, piles of snow - Pusha and Malice's insane charisma and mind-blowing never-ending raw bars will make anybody want to live that lifestyle. But for me personally the main highlight is not the Clipse duo (they delivered, did somebody really doubt?) but the third just as important element of this album.
Holy fuck Pharell.

Why did I only find out about this EP through a random Spotify recommendation? What's the marketing team doing? Where's the rollout? Missing out on this thing would be a huge disappointment especially considering it's filled with a very high-quality rapping. Days before Dreamboy is a successful crossover between pop and trap with trap predominating. There are a whole bunch of filled with personalities and charisma rapping performances from Nas, of course with provocative gay as ... read more
This album is a damn lie. Neither I am a melancholy brunette nor a sad woman (in fact I am not any kind of woman) but it is for me.
What a surprising shift toward a folk scene. Driving Jubilee melodies switched to a calm and thoughtful instrumentals. In fact strings, brass and keyboards speaks much louder that in band's past album, but they never overshadow Michelle's charming voice. Her character on this album really matched the melancholic atmosphere. The theme of fatherhood on the ... read more
The fun thing about Carti is the fact that his popularity mostly comes from the period when he didnt drop any album. During that time Carti managed to create the most uncoventional and mysterious character of the modern pop culture. This album is the answer to a question: does his Music corresponds to his very eccentric self and will his Music break the current hip-hop framework?
To me, album can be divided into 4 parts:
1) Evilj0rdan-esque tracks (EvilJ0rdan itself, HBA, Good Credit, Mojo ... read more
MAYHEM for me is a very fun flashback back to the times when we used to eat boogers for fun. It's bringing back Gaga's signature over-the-top ,loud as hell, funky and pretty damn danceable melodies as well as very grotesque and épatage setting. I don't think I'll come back to this album very often, but as a one-off nostalgia flash we'll take that.
This track IS a menace. Loved how Flood keeps us in suspense with its very strong field drums, whispering vocies and messy back vocals and also loved how Obongjayar's part breaks this suspense and then intensify it. With Simz's every track afro elements sound more and more authentic and I really hope her next album wiil be a Magnum Opus which will give us near-perfect synergy between UK rap and African roots music.
The definition of one of the albums of all time. Just music, two guys just saying words (tho the consistency of PND in giving stinkier performances with every album must be studied). Beats are literally "rainy night long drive home beats download mp3 free". Will be played in malls and on radio just to fill up the silence.*

J. Cole stayed away from Kendrick and Drake's shit just to be prepared to release a social commentary album with a clean reputation. That's what I read from his second verse. If any rapper today can release an album with social and political overtones AND not look like a complete idiot while doing so, it's Cole. And I really hope he does so that nobody ever questions whether J. Cole is a good rapper or nah.
Considering the quality of the track itself, it's a good ol' ... read more
After I finished listening to Speak for Yourself, I started to think: In what situation would I listen to this album? Driving the car? No. Having a bad mood? Hardly. A good mood? Don't think so. Yet I instantly realized that it's a fantastic album. It is just not your everyday listen. Speak for Yourself is the definition of Art Pop. It's out-of-the-box, sophisticated and really feels like a piece of art. It gives you not only a wide spectrum of emotions, but also that strange ... read more
What I enjoy most about exploring the music world is finding connections between albums, how one work influenced another, by which great projects other even greater projects were inspired. It's like a family tree, telling the full story of modern music. The family tree of Since I Left You honestly gives off the vibes of Genghis Khan.
There must be some mistake made on AOTY, because I refuse to believe that this album was released a quarter of a century ago. At a time when the mainstream ... read more
The Weeknd era has come to an end.
During this time, the Canadian child of Ethiopian migrants has paved his way through from a literal brothel to the title of arguable the most famous artist in the world of the last decade. Hurry Up Tomorrow is The Weeknd's last album, which flows seamlessly into House of Ballons, making a conclusion and linking the past and present.
When I heard about the connection between Abel's first and last album, I thought that in Hurry Up Tomorrow he would ... read more
