So much of this album defines the '80s sound in my mind. The first 6 songs are an especially insane sequence, some of the best music of all time. Jack Antonoff's production is always hit or miss for me, but here I think it works more in the album's favor than not. If every pop album were this beautifully orchestrated, I think the genre would benefit a lot. Sure it's vapid, but in the same way 80's pop music was with a self-awareness and tongue-in-cheek nature that sets it apart from most other albums.
