Coil - Musick to Play in the Dark
100

what coil accomplish here is simply so magical and amazing. A very menacing album with incredibly clean production and impeccable instrumentation. One of those albums that occupies a weird space between comforting and haunting. The way this album accomplishes so much with the synth lines and all of the others instruments to create this atmosphere is so unbelievable. The melodies aren't super complex but the sounds really do a lot with what is present. It really is quite different from a ... read more

Lana Del Rey - Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd

Absolutely without a doubt Lana Del Rey at her peak. I do wish the interludes and a few of the songs like “Sweet”, and “Peppers” were a bit more thought out and polished but honestly this is a wonderful thematic experience that truly only comes out once in a lifetime. I love the extremely complex and beautiful lyrics that really vividly express her life in extreme detail. The melodies and hooks are so damn catchy as well. “A&W” for instance is so good I ... read more

Tori Amos - To Venus and Back
100

An amazing double album that delivers beyond belief in terms of performance and songwriting. This is basically the peak of 90s trio-hop up there with mezzanine, from someone who didn’t even write electronic music. Amazing songs like “suede”, “Bliss”, and “Concertina”, are easily 3 of her best songs, without the slightest doubt. This album has a nice balance of sublime atmosphere without being boring. She decorates and flourishes the sounds with lots of ... read more

Pharoah Sanders - Love in Us All
100

Jazz music can simply almost not get better. So flourishing and full of experimentation all over the place. Truly a shining example of why the genre is so important to musical history and has shaped the landscape of everything. All of the performances and tone quality of the instruments are simply amazing. Two tracks that repeat a decent number of ideas and melodies but really fully use every minute of the 20 minute run time. Pharoah Sanders is simply one of the best musicians of all time with ... read more

Scott Walker - The Drift
100

Easily one of the most terrifying and bold things in musical history, and it's so impressive considering how late in his career this was released. Every song is so intricate and chilling to the bone. The sense of laying and atmosphere that make all of these songs so emotionally potent is truly stunning beyond belief. Literally not a weak moment on the album, even the strangest parts are so gut-wrenching that they are truly well-conceived and potent. Seriously, this is one of the strangest ... read more
