Exuding high energy and taking heavy influence from 2000's era female Pop and Pop-Rap, Ruby is a highly stylized listening experience that sounds a bit outdated and doesn't commit to the energy it was portraying; deciding to lean heavy into radio friendly pop at the end.
Decent for what it is despite almost being a culprit of cultural appropriation, but that's not for me to decide.
Definitely the most unique solo project to come out of the Blackpink solo albums saga, just not ... read more
Honestly really impressed with this mixtape.
Ghost takes a lot of the issues I have with this genre and works on them greatly. The production isn't overly messy (which is normally expected by people under Haunted Mount to the point of being almost unlistenable), the beats add to the vibe and is just an overall fun listen.
October Country is such a interesting concept for me. Forgoing the normal lyrical topics of this genre, that being drugs, sex, drugs, sex and money, Ghost takes the ... read more
Not sure how i feel about this album when compared to their debut.
Tsunami Sea definitely feels different in the Metalcore genre, with some tracks sometimes not even sounding metal but more industrial and even synthcore.
The second half of this album is honestly amazing with it's heavy emphasis on melodic metal (where the band really shines in my opinion). it's just really hard to get there.
The first fives tracks are really heavy and hard to listen to and really set me up to not ... read more
While Jordan Fish's production style is noticeable and adds a style to this album, this album is so Sempiternal coded that it just comes off as feeling like BMTH from wish.
A couple immersive moments aside, Sam's vocals really did nothing for me on this album. Maybe he should've just stuck to making songs for FF XIV. Okay, maybe that's a bit mean, but yeah, it's listenable but there so many other albums in this genre that I'd rather listen to if I have that crave.
The first song on this album such a bit. It's really unique, its funky, and quite fun...but after that....I don't know what happened. Edgy sex lyrics, a nerfed Future feature, an underpaid Megan, and a butchered "cover" of Kiss me.
While the beats are kind of fun and sometimes exude a bit of energy, most of this project just feels slapped on, corny and low effort. : (
Very pretty sounding, just not something I can listen to on a regular basis since it's so serene and somber I might end up relaxing the entire day away.
Despite taking influence from many quality projects, Salvation is pretty run of the mill in terms of Dance/Electropop, with a couple of fun cadences. (Track 3 is a good example)
Decent for what it is, just not super impressive or adds much new to the genre. The standard for this sound is already exceedingly high and there are other artists that I would rather listen to if I have the electropop itch. Could see this being shuffled on playlists and is probably a good step for her career, ... read more
Short but fun. Perhaps for the Ep's benefit that it's short but I was kind of wanting more.
Paris Texas' style and approach to experimental hip-hop production really resonates with me, so even when their lyrics are nonsensical at times, it's just a fun vibe.
Electronic synth samples, fun fast flows, Kid Cudi inspired, trans recognition, and a Fantano diss?! How can you not like this?
Fav Track(s): Red Eyes & Blue Hearts, infinyte, El Camino ❤️
Basically a full instrumental EP, with the background vocalist very much acting as an instrument for the soundscape.
Um, wow. The more I listen to this band, the more I realize how much they are carried by their saxophone player. I hope they get paid well and that their back isn't too broken.
It's a vibe I suppose, but the mixing it just atrocious and the random sound effects just feel chaotic for chaos sake. I'm sure there is a deeper artistic meaning here, but it's just a bit of sensory overload for me.
The Historian's JukeBox Stop #43 1976
One of the most acclaimed and beloved albums of all time! Tis finally my pleasure to listen to this grand of piece of music history!
You already know my dislike and bias towards albums over an hour long, and considering this record is almost two hours in length, we decided to split this album into two listen sessions to help keep a clear mind and have a more attentive listening experience.

The Historian's JukeBox Stop #42 2005
2000's Pop Punk helped define and raise a generation and Fall Out Boy is one those bands that helped popularize this genre of music.
Filling me with nostalgia, I have a hard time giving this album a poor review score despite it's apparent flaws, since it provokes such a reaction out of me.
My bias aside. Despite only being 42 minutes, it feels quite a bit longer then that because the second half doesn't successfully follow up on the ... read more
What a divisive experience. Despite this being the year of Kendrick, and my respect for Drake massively plummeting over the past year, the teaser for this record was pretty decent and I wanted to go into this hoping this would be a comeback (or even possible redemption) for Drake. But....I really have a hard time engrossing myself into this experience. Let me explain why.
2011-2013 era Drake is honestly some of my favorite hip-hop. So when I found out I was getting a possible return to ... read more
Choke Enough is a solid piece of Electronic Alt-Pop that is very reminiscent of the 2000's era of the genre.
Sadly though, quite a few tracks on here just feel like demos, and album always feels like it's slowly building up to something but that payoff never occurs.
Along with the very quiet production on this record, it was very difficult to get into this album. Which is disappointing given my love for the genre.
The features really carry this album; The Bladee and Underscores ... read more
Definitely one of the better break-off solo projects I've heard from this sphere.
HER is a really chill blend of K-Pop and R&B that doesn't fall too heavy into the stereotypical sounds you might expect modern K-Pop to sound like, especially with the surprise Dance-Pop banger that is Track 7
I hope MINNIE keeps up this style and approach to her solo career. This was a lot of fun.
Fav Track(s(: Blind Eyes Red, Valentine's Dream, Obsession ❤️
Before you even start with the "YOU JUST HATE ALBUMS OVER 30 MINUTES!", let me just say that I have a positive reception to SZA, and my score is in no part related to her talent as an artist. BUT YEAH, WHY IS THING OVER AN HOUR?!
R&B has the same issues that genres like pop country do, where it's just basically the same five topics on repeat.
Solid for it's production quality, and SZA's vocals are to die for, this album is just too long and too repetitive for ... read more
While not innovate, 11:11 is a fun, chill vibe of Alt/Dance Pop.
Compared to the common consensus with this album, I actually think the slower second half of this record is more creative and unique. I think that contrast however prevents the albums from having an identity.
While nothing on here quite made it's way into my playlists, most everything is decent and I think if you like the genre, it's worth a one time listen. No point in missing out on something you might resonate with.
A bit samey and a little too low tempo for my personal preference as this album doesn't come off as full "Gothic Rock", but it's still pretty cool and the lead vocalist was singing her heart out.
A good one time listen but nothing I'll be returning too. Really cool ambience production, however.
I would classify this as more Folk Americana instead Alt-Country but that's just a nitpick.
A folk album about religious examination, modern social commentary and dreaming of a better tomorrow; it's a fun listen despite me personally not agreeing with some of it's messages.
A bit samey, but when this album peaks, it really peaks, tugging at your emotions with it's relatability.
Overall pretty decent with a couple of tracks that I added to my playlists but there is a few ... read more
