Man, this is so good. It's an exploration of loneliness, hatred, war, childhood, parenthood, and how all of those things interact in such a fundamental and impactful way. It shows how much the things that hurt us in our childhood can hurt us in adulthood and the horrible things that can happen as a result. Listening to every Blue October album #2
It really feels like they found themselves by this point. Blue October brings something extremely unique to the rock genre, and that is the violin. I love how it’s implemented in this album. It transforms the sound from something we’ve all heard a hundred times to something that’s so distinct, yet familiar at the same time. Justin’s vocals are also extremely good and the songs are bangers.

I don’t really get why this is so highly rated. Out of the couple Elliott Smith albums I’ve heard, this is easily the worst. That doesn’t make it bad—I love some of these songs—but the overall product is bloated and most of the songs are forgettable. I do love some of these songs though.
