Been dedicating my summer listens to late 80s and early 90s forgotten teen pop gems and damm, the amount of ambition put in this one is commendably insane.

Given the general reaction to the leaks and the fact that I too am getting tired of her brand, I was prepared to hate this. But I’m actually liking it? Yes, it’s sometimes borderline cringe and lacks big statement melodic hooks, opting again for a subdued tone which at first listen may sound muffed and boring (listen closely though and you’ll find so many charming details). It sounds a bit all over the place but I do get where all the praise comes from.
incredibly (and painfully) beautiful. and hearing this after reading his post made me lose my walls and sob hard.
Unfortunately this is the first misstep from the TV re-recordings. What made the original special was its raw and honest energy, and yes, also its vulnerability, and all of that is now flatlined, so even if Speak Now TV does sound much better, grander and polished, as a side consequence it doesn’t hit so hard.
