[Radiohead Discography Revisit]
A triumphant display of forward-thinking and vision unlike any other. *Kid A* takes the general theme of *OK Computer* and flies to the moon with it, showcasing a sound so unique that at first it might seem incomprehensible. Thom's lyrics are the most somber they've ever been and the orchestral arrangements, while seemingly beautiful and graceful, seem to match the lyricism's depression & anxiety.
An absolute behemoth, my favorite from Swans' catalogue in terms of sound and theme, though its 3 longer songs didn't resonate with me as much as I would have wanted.
Favorite Tracks: Lunacy, Avatar, The Seer Returns, Mother of the World, Song for a Warrior
Least Favorite Tracks: The Seer, 93 Ave Blues
One of the most overproduced pieces of shit I’ve ever heard. It employs every trick in the book to create a catchy earworm but fails spectacularly at every turn. Imagine Dragons’ worst effort by far.
It's not the worst thing in the world but I never want to listen to any of it* ever again.
*Creep still bangs
Love when an album clicks suddenly and makes me doubt why in the world I ever doubted it.
[77->84] Poison Oak, First Day of My Life and Road to Joy remain my absolute standouts but I'd admittedly underestimated the rest of the tracks. It's a beast of a folk record.
Though I do think it could have benefitted by cutting a few songs, it's an incredible piece of work. Fantastic production and atmosphere on every song and a very nostalgic theme.
The last song is meticulously engineered to annoy me specifically so I can't let it get to green
If I listened to Arcade Fire in 2017 and I'd heard this after waiting for 4 years since Reflektor I'd tear every proverbial poster of theirs off my walls.
Luckily, WE is much better so I know not all hope is lost.
Fantastic highs, but some of Arcade Fire's lowest (if we ignore the gas leak that was Everything Now) lows. I can't deny though that the more I listen to it the more I like it, to the point where I think I enjoy it a fair bit more than Reflektor. Hopeful for the future.
Edit (67->75): The more I listen to it the more I like it. I genuinely love some parts of this thing. Conceptually it's probably the most interesting thing Arcade Fire has done.
