Its rare to see such craftmanship. The structures are there, within and around the songs. Theres also a clear vision, a longing for creativity and uniqueness. But the artist have so few things to say, its beyond vapid and self-grandising as a result. Even if one could argue there is overarching themes in this work, they would be as profound as the understanding of 14 years old child, lost in the trenches of juvenile despair.
Trully like witnessing a plane crash into a mountain.
I was expecting more. I find the project way over produced. The sound was clearly a priority, but it doesn't seem live-feasible to me, I know they are known for their live performances, but I can't believe it could sounds the same as the album, which is a shame for a 5 persons band.
The unecessary inclusion of french lyrics is a bit tasteless, especially in a french canadian band, which to me lacks political agency. I also consider them to be a bit vapid; with this much input, I ... read more
Pink floyd without soul. Structures are lazy as it gets; half the songs end in fade-outs cutting directionless solos in pieces. The album's name contains the word "analog" with a cover made with a tool famously "unanalog". The lyrics are also painfully cliché.
Honestly, the whole thing is a farce. I would be willing to be indulgent for the fact it's a one person's band, but looking at the few and far between information you can gather around the net, ... read more
I want to congratulate the effort. I think they know their sound well and can put together a great soundstage, but the project lacks direction and strong themes. And for a third endeavor, it feels amateurish to me.
But still, keep it up, I believe in y'all ^^
I wasn't impressed, but I wasn't bored. The musicians clearly know their craft, the production holds up, good genre blend and there's a lot of tiny performances sprinkled here and there to keep everything interesting.
But I wouldn't say it's original, nor does it have much personality. I really can't get my finger on what doesn't work, but hear me when I say it's sounds like Crush40 (the guys who used to make promotional songs for Sonic The Hedgehog ... read more
I think the genre blend-ing is part of the fun, and the soundstage is great honestly, but I will say that I don't find the writing and the composition very interesting. It's a bit too formulaic for me. A few big hits, package with a lot of filers with classic "she doesnt love me anymore" lyrics.
It sure has personality, but for a 10th-ish album, I'd hope for more depth. There's infinitaly better elsewhere.
I'd say it's a bit rough around the edge, there's multiple transition and parts that feels improvised, but the whole package is a calming listen. Great for work and studying.
Driving a "2-wheeled-motored-vehicule" in a "desert" in all and every definitions of these concept. Move the timeframe and the temperature around, and the possibility of your story becomes near infinite.
Outside it's freezing, I don't know, maybe -70 celsius? and you're somewhere on "h-earth"... the position is irrelevant. You're a "Truck-driver", you move dice-sized black sphere with labels. Basically, you move around ... read more
Been years since I last listened to it. It didn't mark me, and I don't want to update my memory of it. Oh, and by memory, I mean vibes and colours, I couldn't tell you sh*t about it. Oops.
I feel like I want to defend it, but there's not much to it. Its middle ground, minimally intelligent and clever enough for it's pretentiousnes. It's ok.
Also, what a bad cover that conveys nothing. Whatever.
I can feel the humidity, coming from the air. It feels plasticky yet painfully cold, which doesn't help me separate the nostalgia from the dreams. The vibrations trampling my space, the ones you feel in your ear as much as your lungs, they come from another-here. The sensations I couldn't even block with my hands and my palpebras, hiding the reflecting/ed photons, are also, quite frankly, dietical.
The lyrics are beyond empty and the composition is calculated in a very distasteful way. I wouldn't say it sounds insincere and fake, but the package just feels like a venting session best served to a psychiatrist, and not to the public in exchange for money. Very self-centred mess.
I don't want to be too mean, but as Psychedelic Rock goes, this is the bare minimum. The composition is indistinguishable, and it barely reinvents itself or conveys anything. What I mean is that I don't think that, narratively it says much. I couldn't connect emotionally to half the movements within the songs, they didn't make me feel anyhow, and they don't transition very gracefully. Overall, it's a very bland record.
And I really wanna stress this enough, I ... read more
