My favorite DD album :) after listening to their whole discog and my mother being a crazy duranie, this is the one that made me totally understand my moms love. Not the her extent..but this album is absolutely perfect to me and made me appreciate all of the members 1000x more. I LOVE all of their playing on this one. Back to Walter Schreifels roots (not the deepest…Gorilla Biscuits..) and this album rocks! Seeing his sound and voice mature throughout time has been so interesting but I LOVE this album. It’s nowhere near perfect, with poor productions, not very good lyrics, and a majority of the songs sounding quite similar to each other. RIVAL SCHOOLS!!! My favorite project by Walter Schreifels and my god its so good. I love every riff on this album literally the post-hardcore emo holy grail. I was absolutely not expecting to like this as much as i did because of how poppy it is but BOY this album is perfection i love it so much! 'Rio' and 'Seven and the Ragged Tiger' are tied for me on my favorite albums by them. It completely blew me away how every song sounds like a hit single and it doesn't slow down at all. probably my second favorite RHCP album :) i cant believe sometimes how John Frusciante wrote alot of these riffs when he was only 18 while the rest of the band was in their late 20s thats such a big age gap yet their musicianship together all works together so well its pretty neat when you think about it! i dont like the production on this album (im not a fan of Michael Beinhorn) and Anthony Kiedis's singing actually sounds god awful but just hearing their early inspiration then going from this ... read more
i didnt really like this album too much for a long time but ive been listening to it a bit more recently and the more ive listened to it the more i like it. obviously not their best but i like it. i dont really like Dave Navarro playing in general too i dont think it worked at all with the chili peppers but this album has seriously grown on me in the past 2 weeks
