The instrumentation on here is nuts, but unfortunately his vocals killed the whole project for me. I really tried to like it, but just couldn't.
That first lyric from the album perfectly encapsulates my feelings towards it
...oh boy
Whimsy, fairytale-like, but in the end not very consistent. The orchestration and vocal delivery are amazing though.
Cool, darker than usual instrumentals from Fred. Nice delivery from Skepta, although I'm not really familiar with his work. Enjoyable but kinda forgettable.
Very enjoyable garage/house record with nice features and really solid production. Love the car/racing aesthetic going on in here.
Electro house is back in business. A bit rough at the edges, but still a really enjoyable album. Really reminiscent of early 2010s’ style.
77 -> 80
Incredible record to dance and grow up to. I’ve had pretty big expectations since the last album, but they’ve blew it out of the park with this one. Joey’s production has improved, the bars are still goated, the references are still on point. It’s truly a JVB late summer!
Absolutely careless. One of the most fun records I've listened to in a long time.
Really catchy & energetic. I really like the guitars on here. Not as consistent as his previous album, but it bangs.
This is the first project i've heard from them. Really cool vibes. Not the most polished, but it's alright. Def music to sway to.
Lovely, dreamy package. Flowing with grace through all the tracks like crazy. Soaking in that 60s sauce, yet also still sounds modern.
Love the theme and direction on this one. Might be my fav record from Tyler.
A beautiful hand of acoustic guitar layers, string swells, and upright pianos wrapped in a folksy blanket. Lovely sound.
Flower Boy was my first encounter with Tyler's work back around 2018. It's meticulously crafted on all fronts, although the 2nd half feels more cohesive than the other. Beautiful production and delivery.
Production-wise - nuts
Mix-wise - hitting -0.1LUFS when there's only a chance to 💀
Vocal-wise - would be better without all the rapping, but has some nice moments aswell
Honestly this is a step back from the previous record. Singles felt a bit too good compared to the rest of the album. Very mixed bag overall.
