“I GOT A BULLETPROOF VEST ON AND A CURE FOR AIDS”
so for this album jonny “macbook scammer” craig is gone (which begins a long laundry list of exchanging vocalists) and replaced by kurt travis, and while kurt is an inferior vocalist to jonny, im gonna be honest and say that that guy DEFINITELY needed out of the band. Kurt isnt bad though, he can still do a lot of what jonny did with his own flair. Mess is still jon mess, not much else to be said. In terms of the album i ... read more
the first dwbm is considered a post hardcore classic for a reason. A lot of the bands best and most popular songs to date are here, like times new roman and lemon meringue tie. this was the album that put them on the map for a lot of people, and again its for a good reason. Jonny REALLY gets good with his vocals here, it’s probably one of if not his best performance on a studio project. jonny and mess really work together well vocally, you can go from jonnys soulful voice from one second ... read more
the complicated numbered track names begin…
ehh, this is a fine debut ep that does a good job at showing what the band can do, but doesn’t provide much memorability in the long run. The performance from mess here is pretty weak, with him not really finding his groove yet on unclean vocals and jonny does fine but just like mess he gets a lot better later. the production is pretty weak, but honestly i expected that given its their first ep. The rest of the band isn’t doing a ... read more
attila is the band equivalent of going to the boardwalk or mall and seeing those shitty popup stands with cheaply printed shirts of cartoon characters as gangsters
i think that’s enough said
that is a WILD way to start an album it’s literally been only 25 seconds calm the fuck down holy shit 😭😭
dude this is awesome why is everybody on this website such a damn downer?? yeah it isnt much different from their other work but does that really matter if the music still kicks ass, the band is having fun who cares. Its not like electric fucking callboy is destroying metalcore or anything geez
"This was composed by two people. One is a child with a rock set in a DAW they don't know, and the other is someone hooked up to an activated femur breaker"-my friend laucusis 2026
I want you to sit back and imagine the audio equivalent of a supergroup between 3 aliens, 6 crackheads, and at least 5 rejected members of the dillinger escape plan that are all researching on bongs and how to shapeshift into government officials so they can break into area 51 just because it’s a funny way to spend a tuesday afternoon. This is the album equivalent of going to a restaurant and not having enough room on the table for everything to fit so you have to strategize where your ... read more
JANK really could’ve been something special :(
I typically don’t like to harp on situations where incredible music is fronted mainly by someone with bad history, especially because everyone else here is already doing that, but with JANK its incredibly difficult because of the fact that this band didn’t get far before their breakup. The music here, ignoring the elephant in the room, is the foundation for what could’ve been an incredible band with a respected legacy and ... read more
Edit- i think this ones grown on me a little bit. my point about the overall direction of this band at this point still stands, but I've been able to appreciate the technical parts of it more than whats on the absolute surface. I think i was so used to (and still am) used to krysta level goofiness that I didnt really give this one a full chance at the time.

it definitely sounds like myspace nintendocore from 2007, yup it sure does, if that’s good or not is up to the listener but it sure sounds like myspace nintendocore from 2007!
for derek is technically an unlistenable mess but its got so many dumb fun elements that I can’t hate it. I think my brain is programmed weird…it’s probably not a problem
