this evoked such a weirdly strong feeling from me. loved the lyrics and ending, glad blur is back =]
the whole album feels vv early 2010s and i love it for that. heavily twenty one pilots influence, that robbie is to grow out of, but i personally love it in his older stuff. solid (and depressing) album.
some of these songs were written when chloe was as young as 12/13 which shows as they can be quite simple and juvenile, but this album has some high points with 'waves', 'spaceland' and especially 'little moth'. the album doesn't try to be too big and sticks with chloe's ukulele that she gladly ditched for a larger musical palette in later projects like spirit orb and blood bunny. for me in the past, this album captured needing a softer sound to relax on ... read more
tv expands on the lingering theme of self-reflection and dissociation from 'male fantasy' as it brings up comments on negative self-absorption leading to the destruction of everything interpersonal in someone's life, and a brief moment for entertainment politics. the song ends with her acknowledging she may be the problem, and this could refer back to the roe v. wade line as she was originally talking about her own self-destructive behaviour then deterred the song to 'why aren't we talking ... read more
