i've listened to way too much stuff that now i feel like fantano harshly reviewing every other album in the genre i come across help
cannot see the hype or praise for this at all . this felt grating to my ears, massively uninteresting and does nothing for me
SUCH a step up from that badly executed first ep and a decent screamo album that still holds up
the songs on here are quite long perhaps leaning more into the black metal aspects rather than into the screamoviolent ones but i still found it to be very enjoyable . i enjoy my black metal more first thing in the morning so maybe that's where my bias is here lol but this is great to sit back and listen to
unique in sound, love the spoken elements, it fits well with the atmospheric black metal ones . will be seeking out more "blackened skramz"
i come back to this album so so often, it's easily become one of my favourites and i wish they'd release it on cd rather than just having it exist on vinyl .
it's your typical midwest screamo (with a hardcore influence) album except it's fairly acoustic ? and somehow manages to have it's own special and unique vibe about it
not surprising i enjoy it so much though it's midwest, screamo, acoustic, and has a hardcore influence, it's genuinely everything i love ... read more
acoustic emo fit to the likes of dashboard confessional (and maybe worst party ever for a more recent equivalent) feels like the wario to my extreme metal, extreme punk, extreme emo tastes because god if i don't love these albums as much as i love them
screaming infidelities will always be the defining song of dashboard confessional and the opening track vers here is, imo, superior to the newer version on come to fear the most
i'd honestly contextualise this sound in the likes of ... read more
okay trying to think about this if i had a massive ego and was named charli xcx
she deconstructs genres, typically in the electronic genre but here she's doing rock, and then satirises the typical attitudes of the artists and maybe the fanbase's reception too? so here we have a song that vocally is raw, replicates a similar feel with the production - though i gotta say i feel like jane remover would pull something like this off so much better unfortunately - and continues with her ... read more
these guys' bio reads that they're another myspace emo project trying to appeal to fans of fall out boy and taking back sunday and yeah... i couldn't agree more but also if i don't eat this shit up.. so target hit i guess LOL
it's not even that it's bad: it's just expected? it's well executed at the least .
it might js be with being lancastrian/mancunian but if this album doesn't have one of the most significant sounds i've ever heard . wonderwall/dlbia are classics and some of the most sentimental songs i've heard and two i can't get tired of despite having heard them since birth . the rest of the album is okay and doesn't do what those two songs do for me LOL . undeniably a classic
nude all the time . descending down a staircase headless, occasionally
