after the absence of chris bell who was one of the key frontmen and songwriters for the bands' debut record, 'radio city' manages to still capture what made the first album so great as well as bring its own distinct feel to their distinct power pop sound with a lot of the songs having what i can only describe as a western twang to them.
Favourite Track: 'September Gurls'.
how bowie was able to put together one of his greatest achievements right at the end of his life is unbelievable. how he continued to draw influence from contemporary acts and put his own spin on things up until even 2016 was something truly special.
Favourite Track: 'I Can't Give Everything Away'.
beautifully haunting album, it's so hard to pick a favourite just because how well the album works as a whole, it's too consistent to single one out.
Favourite Tracks: N/A
can be a bit cheesy and childish in some areas, but this entire album is just undeniably very well written and performed. it's also just a nice sugary, feel-good album that wears and embraces it's influences well.
Favourite Tracks: 'Joining A Fan Club' and 'New Mistake'.
there really isn't anything else like this album and there hasn't been anything like it since. it isn't always an easy listen but on occasion the feelings these songs give me sometimes are impossible to describe. the record really has a magical otherworldly quality about it when your ears are open to it.
Favourite Track: 'Good Morning, Captain'.
