A screeching ebb growing from a distance. A seemingly cry for help slowly echoing to your location. Kraus excavates the deepest parts of his humanity hoping to end up to a place where it no longer belongs to our current knowable realm.
WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW I AM SINKING INTO THE OCEAN PLEASE DO NOT SAVE ME
Objectively not better than their debut but still a really good follow-up.
Some songs are not that memorable but still pretty decent. Crash Sight is my favorite song so far.
I'm still flabbergasted that something like this came out in the 80s. This only goes to show that shoegaze is already a timeless genre. MBV knew what they were doing and they set themselves up so well with this as their debut album. All the different textures they germinated match so well and never once did clash. Favorite songs are All I Need and You Never Should.
It is such a shame that they only released two albums. They clearly have so much talent and so much more to give. To think that their debut album has made a place in one of the best shoegaze albums out there is astounding. The clever mix of chiptune only enhances the already dreamy sonics of shoegaze; since it does add the element of nostalgia to it. This definitely helped propel their name towards people's radars. Favorite songs would be Darklooming and Butterfly Kisses.
Not a huge fan of the vocals but considering the year this was released, pretty astounding. Very dreamy twist on shoegaze which is my absolute favorite. They incorporated that siren-like, hazy roar in the background of most songs. Quick as Rainbows is my favorite song so far.
Even if it's in another language, I can feel like I know every word to this. That's how strong the connection is. It's like being electrocuted almost. Once you touch it, it's going to be difficult to get yourself out of it. Hypnotic guitar riffs and just that classic shoegaze sound can never go wrong.
