Clocking in at 9 songs over 38 minutes, Gaz Coombes 4th solo album has some strong moments. The man can write a tune and his structure is always interesting. However, I've been left wanting more.
The vinyl is en route, nonetheless. I suspect it'll grow on me, rather like previous effort 'World's Strongest Man'.

Ryuichi Sakamoto's '12' is a beautiful addition to an ever increasing ambient excursion that I seem to be embarking upon.
After stumbling on Aukai by pure chance, on a random Spotify playlist, I repeatedly played the album 'Game Trails' when on long journeys. It was amazing escapism.
'Apricity' follows in a similar fashion but lacks the punchiness that filtered into previous efforts. It is lovely background music but if I was to listen to this whilst driving, I'd likely crash the car.

I've got a pal who is a huge fan. I've been doing my utmost to appreciate them but the lead singers voice simply doesn't command. Saying that, one cannot underestimate the late 90s output. Some of that was lyrically sublime. Sorry, Arab Strap (the band).

Thorn sounds better than ever and Watt has clearly been listening to a lot of Bicep. I'm amazed that some 'fans' were hoping for their 80s or, their more succesful, 90s sound. I cannot stand so called music lovers, wishing that artists hark back to a formula. It's been 24 years.
Genuinely very excited by this unexpected return. Album pre-ordered albeit somewhat disappointed with the album cover. However, 9 times out of 10, a crap album cover contains an incredible album.
Wow. Thank you AOTY for introducing me to something quite extroadinary. Think Aukai laced with raspy vocals.
I'm with the other reviewer here. 'Stephenson 218' is a standout.

Hey man, thanks for the reply on my review of Savage (Songs From A Broken World). Truth be told, I didn't really found Intruder that impressive as well, I feel like I'm just not that into Gary Numan's stuff outside late 70s and early 80s. My opinion may change, as I'm on a long way to rerate all albums that I've previously listened to along with listening to new ones, so it might take a while for me to get to Gary Numan's discography once again, but I will take a look at his later era again someday.
