I feel like, this is one of the Deathcore records that implement actual Death Metal into the music the most and it fits the record very well. It si pretty melodic and that gives plus points to me, as I like harsher music more, when it doesn't just try to jab in your face all the time.
First of all, thank you @Lurnatic for recommending your work.
First of all, the first track made me smile so hard. I just couldn't help myself loving it. I am new to this kind of music and it hit me like a truck. I am aware of Drum and Bass, but this record felt like something I've never experienced this way and it is almost hypnotic. The hour of runtime went by like nothing and yet, the beats still stuck to my head. I am really glad to have listened to it.
Easily my favorite Album by Basement. It has the right amount of Grunge and melancholy. The singing is raspy and longing enough to grasp your heart, but not too much, that it feels artificial. The whole album is filled with relatively simple but effective lyrics in a way, Basement never managed to reproduce again. All in all a very amazing album I would recommend to anyone at least a bit interested in alternative music.
This whole project kinda feels unfinished. I do like my Midwest Emo to be a bit lo-fi sometimes, but it doesn't FEEL intentional here. As much, as I like some Ideas in this record, I won't get warm with it. That's not to say, that there aren't parts, I don't enjoy. The instrumentation itself is very fun. It just needs a certain something to become something I'd want to come back to.
Pretty easy listening, even for atmospheric black metal. But that's what I've come to expect and enjoy from Ellende. This record still doesn't hold up too much to their early work but is enjoyable nonetheless. Ellende know what they are capable of and continue to do so. I just wished, they expanded their horizon a little more. What I've got was, what I like about them and I am happy.
A really good Midwest Emo record. The songs evoke the emotions, I look for when listening to the genre. It leans heavily on the up-beat but melancholic side of the genre, which I appreciate. The songs mash a bit together at times and it's hard to tell difference sometimes.
Still, a very solid record.
Thank you, @drakkarnior1 for recommending me your work
I overall really enjoyed this record. It is a interesting experience with lush and hypnotizing beats. You can really close your eyes and enjoy the whole run of the project easily without drifting off too much, despite the record sometimes feeling a bit repetitive. Maybe even because of that.
While on the first few listens, it doesn't really stick with me too long after I finished them, but I just know, over the year, it will become ... read more
Definitely a Indiepop cult classic for a reason. It is a fun, jangly experience that puts you in a great mood but overall pretty hit or miss overall even tho there are no per se bad songs. A lot of the songs I liked however, were also not that resonant with me. A decent record, I can definitely listen to from time to time.
This thing evokes the right (wrong( feelings, and I am all here for it. It's been a while, since music almost made me panic at times and that's the best compliment I can give here. Each segment made things more and more interesting, without breaking the impact, it had before. The very last part was a bit of a surprise and I have yet to find out if that's a good thing or not. All in all, a very interesting listening.
Still a banger. Great, fun Indie Punk Rock. You can find something interesting in each song that almost all manage to be poppy and yet have enough of a Punk punch to work out.
Easily re listenable and every chorus will still pick you up.
A generally beautiful record. It fuses Jazzy lo-fi with some other elements you'd generally won't hear like it. The problem arises, when you realize, the songs are way too short to strike you. I am pretty sure, you're supposed to look at the record as one whole experience, yet the songs don't blend together enough. Leaving you desiring more.
Such a fun Grunge record. It is poppy enough to get you going, but harsh and dirty enough to not feel like a typical rock record. It is just packed with amazingly captivating, energetic and angry songs that let the record go by very quickly, yet it will stay in your head for a long while.
What a refreshing album. It encapsulates the term "Dark Ambient" with grace and its theme of abandoned houses is something you really can hear through the music. It is almost, as if the moans and creaking of those lonely buildings have been directly put into the record. A big surprise to have such a great record, this early on in the new year.
Acidgirl delivers yet another half-baked mess of a record. Why do I always fall for the ragebait and listen to it? I don't know, I guess I have a thing for always having to listen to new releases of Artists I know.
I do have to give a bit of praise, because at least, this times some aspects are listenable but that doesn't help the fact, that every track will be forgotten the moment they end and mash together with basically every other Acidvrl song.
This record surely has it's charm, yet not everything feels well put together and sometimes somewhat lazy. I appreciate some of the corny and kinda cheeky aspects of this record. Aside from that, it treads a fine line between being Anti-folk/noise pop and being a pain in the ear.
Darkly beautiful is probably the best way to describe the album. The instrumentation is a standout here, as it isn't shy of experimentation without feeling disconnected. Even tho, the vocals take a backseat in a lot of the tracks, they still achieve, what they are set out to do.
I do dig parts of the instrumentation. It feels very choppy and simplistic but keeps a certain mood and dancability going. But I feel like there is a certain something missing here I can't put my finger on. Most tracks are really fun to listen to and have fun Ideas but not many actually do the cut for me. At that, the second half of the album seems to go more the way I enjoy which is the reasonI will still look forward to Basilchords further releases.
Easily my favorite album. It does the quiet-loud dynamic the best in my opinion. It goes between emo-adjacent Soft-grunge and post-rock and keeps you engaged all the way through.
Jeremys singing is rough and it sounds amazing as it keeps the sound grounded.
Such a melancholic, beautiful experience. Since Split Lip changed into Chamberlain, their music got more Country-Adjacent and it fits perfect to the singers voice. This must be one of my favorite albums of all time. I never heard a country album that is so emotionally captivating.
The Pains continued to drift away from its more guitar-driven sound even more with it and went in a very dancable indie pop direction. And while my mind tells me, I should not like it, as much as I do, i can't help but enjoy it a lot as it still keeps the Twee energy going, that made The Pains first releases so great in the first place.
Not an album I would recommend for people that want to get into this band but it is a good record for if you want to hear the bands take on a different ... read more
