Yeah I dont know what I was smoking the first time I reviewed this album. But imagine getting cheated on and in the song apologising to you they have the most heavenly sample of all time. I would be inconsolable.

This was my second Roots album after things fall apart. I think at the time whilst I knew I was listening to a great album I was somewhat disappointed by the drastic change in sound between the two albums which were a sum of the smaller changes of the 5 or so albums between. After listening to those albums and coming back, I have come to appreciate the sheer versatility of the Roots over their near two decade long run.

Honestly I thought this would be a joke but it seems he took it pretty seriously so I guess I should also take it seriously. It's always risky doing an album thats entirely covers of well established songs. It makes the whole thing only take on any real value if the songs on the album are worth listening to over the originals.
