I used to make a point out of listening to a couple really long trap mixtapes each year from really big names in the industry. Lil Uzi Vert’s Eternal Atake in 2020, Young Thug’s Punk in 2021, Gunna’s DS4EVER in 2022… all of these tapes rank among the most forgettable, inconsistent, and generally mediocre albums I’ve ever heard. Kobaryo is an artist I’ve been familiar with for a while now, being one of the preeminent speedcore producers working right now. If you’re unfamiliar, speedcore is a genre of hardcore electronic music unsurprisingly characterized by ridiculously fast tempos usually upwards of 300 bpm. Update 2: I realized recently that I haven't returned to this album nearly as much as you'd think I would over the course of the year given the fact I have it as a perfect score.
