there's some well constructed ideas within these songs, but they often feel quite disjointed or messy in moments. it's pretty enjoyable regardless, but often more interesting than anything else.
its an immature album, but its oozing with charm and atmosphere like watching tv on a late rainy night, and really everything just works so well. additionally, its literally the exact moody yet calming album i've been looking for for like months, and it's just perfect for me. It's so boundless and feels like a project made of nothing but pure feeling and care from the band, and it's really cute and willing to get a little electronic for such an analog and small-time cute ... read more
a teensy bit underwhelming but hella fun, no longer just optimistic for this album cause damn does this CLEAR starburst
wow
I usually prefer to disregard musical history when i consider my thoughts on an album (for instance SMILE! :D isn't good to me because it's impressive that EDM icon porter robinson made an indie rock album, it's impressive cause it's good in substance and faithful to Porter's career and progression as an artist, not just in musical talent, and that can be seen through the music), but.....when my only prior experience with Vylet's music is from a fantastic ... read more
pretty gorgeous as a full work, I think it falls apart when looking at each song a little more singularly, but for a very self contained 35 minute atmosphere and feel there's not really a negative statement i can make for it, outside of criticism too disconnected from the music to matter. it really just works quite well as an album all things considered and i really gotta give it full props for that.
There's a lot of finer details added here that really make the full trilogy work amazingly together,
the end of leviathan sanctuary has a quiet guitar section on top of the ambiance that moves much nicer into So Far Away, Underneath comes in a lot sooner, there's a lot more smaller vocal samples, notably one between Underneath and Univa Transporter. Most of guardian remains untouched beyond some finer details i couldnt identify.
either way, this is the best released form that all of ... read more

this feels loosely and fittingly attached to the new underscores era i like it
a little too late into the year to be the summer album i think it'd be if it came out in like june or smth, but still fun and good typical koko tracks allthroughout here, curious to see if the other two discs take a different direction or not
200th review!
i've decided to use whatever numeric review milestones feel significant as a way to go back and revisit some old projects I enjoyed when really just starting to make an active effort to listen to music, which also means a lot of these are gonna end up being vocaloid albums.
But! as for the actual album, or artist rather, r-906 has been one of two producers i had in my head as incredibly unknown and incredibly strange in how seperated the atmosphere of their work came across ... read more
to be kinda honest, hearing 15 minutes of this album will kinda sum up what you'll hear in the other 70 of it, but it has a pocket it lives in, and it doesn't ever not do it right, and it's not like theres not standouts like "stargazing with you" or "remember tomorrow".
it's a bit of a daunting or overly consistent experience, but hearing atmospheric dnb thats more focused on fully embracing atmosphere over some rampant drums, that also happens to be ... read more
having this heart-wrencher of a track as the 3rd single before even musician is something only the guy who had sea of voices as the first single to worlds could do
follows the IX FALL$ formula to a T, but i'd be lying if i said it wasn't still hitting, plus this song uses its 6 minutes really well to create something insanely well diversified.
definetly a little too overhated here, not much more than a snoozefest beyond the first 8 tracks or so, definetly not like bad beyond the weird ass interludes though.
that intro and track 5 interlude were heavenly and beautiful, why the hell did the tracks just go hard or make me cry and not change how my ears viewed sound cmon guys
heard the first bar in PARTY'S OVER, laughed, paused for a solid minute, remembered this was a major label debut, laughed again, and then jumped back in
overall, not bad, well sampled and produced as usual, and a little less forgetful than the last album, which i hope helps my thoughts on the album in the future.
blehhhghghghhhhghghggghhh part 4!!!!!
the 4th release on xxtarlits bandcamp even more bloated by individual song length than any before it, but it is also the start of an uptick in overall quality. There's no track here i'm all that opposed to (except maybe like Sublime? its not great is all), so now the only clear issue is oh my god this couldve been like half the length and a lot better. these tracks are lengthy, and definitely not successfully filling that length just yet, which is ... read more
