i hate how this single faded into the "weak end" of ppl talking abt SMILE :D's tracklist, this is like easily one of my favorites, i love a self confidence banger thats rlly concious, like the hook is real as hell, EVERYBODY is self concious, and we're all just tryna look good and not feel bad so who rlly cares what u wear except for urself, and ALSO its like the catchiest track on the album for me, the little "kitsune maison, kitsune maison" repititions are just ... read more
im rlly glad this group has maintained all its personality even after changing members, and the singing moments come off a bit better because of it, Tina and Nero are some really strong singers.
despite my bias for snails house, VERSE isn't my favorite here, it is a close second behind NEW DAYS though.
i like what LUNATIC BEAST and META FICTION were going for, but they both feel kinda messy overall, although i rlly love the chorus on META FICTION, so i may warm up to it.
the album version ... read more
the overperformance without confidence in the vocals and the occasional cringeness of the lyrics make these really solid moments of production make this album feel more like wasted potential than anything else.
and if theres anything i feel is wasted here its the use of well drawn angel girls in the covers :c
wish i liked it more, but eh, its pretty when it wants to be, but its mostly kinda mediocre
tracks like STANKA POOH and BLOOM are great examples of moments i feel could have been expanded upon, and theres a lot of that overall with this mixtape, plenty of moments of great expression and potential with some incredibly refreshing hip hop, but it leaves me more curious and certainly optimistic of what a full Doechii album is gonna sound like.
rlly solid tho, WAIT is kinda underrated
I didn't love it that much at first, but its really solid and while sounds reminiscent of plenty that Ujico* has done before, the intensity of some of these songs kinda make it feel special, and make this EP more unique and interesting than Pixelixe I was.
This album is really pleasant and sweet, with such an adorable charm to it from front to back that really fits this childish drawing of an album cover and how happy-go-lucky and lovey-dovey this album is, because sometimes something this sweet is what we really need, and for how specific this album has hit for me in different romantic points in my life, it really does work.
to slightly expand on that, You're here that's the thing is a song i will forever associate with one ... read more
Feels a little too similar to Afterwards, it carries this same strange blend of jrock and rap elements that feels interesting at best but a little too convoluted at times, especially in small moments in certain tracks where a small addition with the production often rubs me the wrong way if not just as an unnecesary inclusion, im not timestamping these or anything, but theyre frequent, also the like 10 second break in FROM EAST kinda removes me from the song in a way, and the intro to hurtend ... read more
really solid scrapped tracks, honestly more enjoyable than kaleidoscope was for me overall
this shit hard but im harder listening
having this be solo produced by Buckx2 rlly helps this be hella consistent which i feel like her projects have struggled w before, it also helps this is actually a straight banger of a project start to finish.
100th review!!
Worlds is an album I've never had a very cohesive opinion on, as a lot of this hasn't clicked with me for a while, and i can write out why, but giving a number to represent it all is kinda hard.
There are plenty of things i can clearly say that i don't love, i hate the choral vocals when they're present, especially when the intensities (in production) of tracks like Hear the Bells and Years of War are to the same level as tracks like Divinity and Polygon dust, ... read more
i met josetta at a concert 2 months ago and she was insanely nice and fun, this isnt gonna affect my rating i just wanted to say shes amazing
anyway, theres an interesting blend of rlly intimate folk styles and glitchier production that i wanna see flourish more because sonically, cause i feel most of these tracks sound slightly lacking in a certain way.
But lyrically, the intimacy and personality of the lyrics was enjoyable and feels pretty solid, although "secret" is a little too ... read more
i was expecting something a lot prettier with the piano in the intro, but the trap drums kinda ruined it, a much smoother beat would have made the track a lot better, and the vocal mixing is a little ehhhhh idk just kinda mid
this shit is so awful, MEDIA is only good for the brakence verse, CWM sounds like Funke if he wasn't self aware of the fact he has a voice designated for midwest emo.
IS opens incredibly with some top tier brakence writing and would make such a good song if there was nothing on it from CWM.
There's something so pretentious about all 3 of these tracks that says literally nothing about social media and media and feeling nothing and like my god i get that ur a white male but there is ... read more
actually kinda fire, theres a rlly weird sound to it thats rlly appealing and like a bunch of songs being stitched together, including all the changes Matt's vocals go through. it's in the way that i wouldn't ever show this to someone else but not cause its like an unapproachable sound but because its just so weird
its just weird but in like a good way
lowk don't fw the "it's just for me" sample part, too repetitive for nothing.
theres something abt how the vocals are pitched that just rubs me a little too strangely, maybe its the mixing, idk
but i would be straight up lying if i said this wasn't such a banger tho, its like the indie rock version of "i'm just tryna dance" from her earlier this year, if that makes any sense
