Modest Mouse - An Eraser and A Maze
70

For a group that has been making music for longer than I have been alive it's awesome to hear them hit a stride in 2026. A very focused and pleasant album. You can hear the age creeping in but Isaac Brock still sounds pretty good. This will probably age wonderfully and grow on me with more listens.

Fraxriel - Despise

Some parts show promise and there's for sure potential. There are some nice hooks and the bones of each song are put together well enough. But the song writing and vocal performances throughout-- especially on "ROT" and "Run" for example needs a lot of work. The melodic parts really struggle to come across cleanly with the super lack luster singing. The dude has a good voice he just needs some practice and to work on really nailing these notes and getting some help in ... read more

Moving Mountains - Waves

Such an underrated group.

JPEGMAFIA - EXPERIMENTAL RAP
5

Only thing experimental about this dude is that fuck ass hair transplant old goofy weirdo. Experimental klan rally at every jpegmafia concert. Experimental triplet flow. The king of experimental lyricism about Reddit and Twitter and video games has returned to experiment with being in his mid to late 30's and deadass making a song called "You will always lose money chasing women, but you will never lose women chasing money". Should have tried experimenting with some new shit that ... read more

Chris Brown - BROWN
10

The beat he had YoungBoy feature on felt like it was actively fighting to not be rapped over. This could be seen as a step in the right direction for Chris Brown considering his history of assault wherein the victims were unable or unwilling to fight back.

I'm most grateful that I didn't need to listen to more than a minute of most of these songs to feel comfortable just passing on them. Chris Brown has no flow at all when he raps and used the same autotune on every track he sang ... read more

Def Leppard - Hysteria

You can intuit a lot about someones relationship with their dad based on how they feel about Def Leppard.

Hobo Johnson - HOBO JOHNSON DRINKS!

Grok, what would Watsky sound like if he took Vyvanse?

All That Remains - The Fall of Ideals
85

Six might be a top 5 metalcore song of all time. Also "Six" is track number seven and that really makes you think. They nailed this album front to back and it's crazy outside of a few singles they never made anything remotely close to this good ever again. Probably because Killswitch Engage was already making better music and this came out at the butt end of that sound so when it came time to move on they just had nothing left to contribute. Honestly I think All That Remains ... read more

Bilmuri - KINDA HARD
60

Wouldn't call it "new Bilmuri music" with this one but rather "more Bilmuri music". He definitely found his sound and its fine and fun but I can't help but feel that experimental freshness turn into gimmicky repetition. As a fan that's the only drawback. I prefer American Motor Sports and don't see many places if anything where this succeeds or pushes past that album. But it's alright, it's still well made and perfectly okay. Probably my least ... read more

Ravyn Lenae - Bird's Eye
65

I saw that "Love Me Not" hit 1b streams on Spotify so I gave this a relisten and it's still just OK.
Very stripped back, simple and agreeable songs. Nothing tries to be anything other than passable and it.. hits the mark? These are all fine songs. Wish we got some range on vocals, some tension at any point in any song, a crescendo or some kind of resolution. But every song kind of introduces you to what the song is immediately, just is exactly that and ends. Very coffee shop ... read more

Linkin Park - Meteora
95

Happy birthday Meteora! This was the first CD I ever bought. It's my favorite album ever. It's a flawless embodiment of the sound and time in which it was created. Every single song Chester is on he delivered the best possible performance. The energy, pace and flow of this album is perfect. The production is tight and it's night and day compared to Hybrid Theory (still an immaculate album too).

I always had a hard time calling Linkin Park Nu Metal or Rap Rock. The genres ... read more

Juice WRLD - Goodbye & Good Riddance
75

Has a certain attribute that sounds a little corny at times (album has been memed to death for it) but I think it's because buddy was like 18 or something when he wrote and recorded all this. Which in hindsight I find way more impressive than cringe. I never vibed with it in 2018 but as this is getting ready to turn 10 years I think it aged pretty well. Especially the reissue/spotify version tracklisting it's just very solid. Juice Wrld was very seriously talented and left us way too ... read more

No way they took the "on hold" music when you call your insurance company and bought verses to slam on top of them.

This shit popped up on my Release Radar (the ultimate mission goal of their music I'm sure) and they have over 20 albums on Spotify in 2025 and all the covers are AI. They release these within weeks of each other just nonstop pumping out this slop. As far as I can tell this loser just purchases the license to whatever throwaway verse that a legitimate artist has ... read more

Dayseeker - Creature In The Black Night
65

Full sugar soda music. Music with all the bad stuff for you in it. Music that does not nourish you. But it's fine in moderation because it's a little sweet.
I think that's my relationship with Dayseeker. Their sound just doesn't resonate fully with me but I don't totally reject it. I probably wouldn't have a blast if I saw them headlining a show. But I wouldn't change the station if it played on the radio every once in a while. Nothing insane nothing ... read more

Laufey - A Matter of Time
70

Good not great. Let down that nothing popped or really stood out to me. Nothing I really care about listening to again. Of all the thousands of albums I will listen to in my life this is one to forget. But for the 40 or so minutes I listened to it I had an OK time that one time.

Young Thug - UY SCUTI

normalize not publishing some bullshit

Amira Elfeky - Surrender
75

Pretty cool. Sometimes it has this kind of 2000s ringtone commercial vibe but in a good way. Can really feel the Evanescence influence without borrowing too heavily from them which I appreciate. Especially since it'd be lame to hear an alt metal project with a female lead and just go "this is like Evanescence!"
Solid songwriting and the modern metal parts are decently heavy and fun to listen to. Hope to hear more from this artist now.

Cody Fry - The End
15

Like getting a Hallmark card with nothing personal penned in it. This comes off as a corporate proof of concept so the artist can work on creating soundtracks for Disney animations and not something that somebody just wanted to make.
A plastic, inauthentic sound with no seasoning or soul. Like if you asked Grok to make a film score. The large crescendos fall flat repeatedly since it's just so cookie cutter movie trailer coded. I'm just not a fan of the vision on this one.

Joey Valence & Brae - HYPERYOUTH
20

Oooh it's not Beastie Boys-- it's LMFAO. Yeahhhh party rock is in the house tonight. Shots shots shots. Love that group man, fun songs. This doesn't have a camo pack in Black Ops 2 though so it sucks.

Ok for real. Just like their last album there's no shortage of songs I had to abruptly skip because of "I just wanna play my XBOX!" ass lyrics spoken unabashedly. Nearly every song is still plagued with really amateur delivery as well. The songs that aren't ... read more
