The Weeknd's best album. This album improves upon what The Weeknd was going for on After Hours and more. Here, we see Abel (The Weeknd) get as accurate as possible to the synth pop sound of the 1980s, and it's incredible. Dawn FM is sonically more refined than his past releases. This is “pop star Weeknd”, a much more mature and fun Weeknd than the more villianous personality of the former Weeknd persona. He's much more mature and relatable on this album with the ongoing concept of ... read more
Perfect second wave black metal album. A solid debut effort by Immortal. Best played in chilly or cold weather with blue, gray, or purple skies. Larping with friends in the woods is recommended while blasting this as well.
What can be said about this album that hasn't already been said? Oh, wait…not enough has been said! Yeah. For no good reason, this album has been overshadowed by subsequent Slayer albums and forgotten by poser metalheads and false Slayer fans who only know about Reign In Blood and Seasons In The Abyss. This album is heavy, thrashy, and evil (in the best way possible). It's truly an experience not many metal albums could replicate in storytelling and songwriting (Metallica's Master Of ... read more
A perfect debut thrash album by Slayer. This was Slayer before they cut down on the Satanic lyrics and imagery, and their NWOBHM influences are evident on this first one (Iron Maiden, Mercyful Fate, Judas Priest, etc.). Tom Araya's vocals still had a sort of growl to it before he switched to a screaming vocal style with Reign In Blood and onwards, but on this record and Hell Awaits, Slayer still seemed to have a command over their audience. The line between the listeners and the band had not ... read more
Beautiful indie pop album, and in my opinion her best work. I can't stop spinning this record. It sonically and aesthetically appeals to my senses. ☀️
Cannibal Corpse's most underrated album. My favorite and imo, their best next to Butchered At Birth and The Bleeding. Classic death metal with some thrash influences. You can definitely hear some Slayer influences on a few songs, and that really adds to the appeal. Very raw production, audible bass and all. There are those who will deny the badass-ery of Chris Barnes' vocals on the first four Cannibal Corpse albums, but Barnes absolutely was on another level with his death growls on this record ... read more
Metallica once again has delivered a masterpiece. They pulled through! This is an even better album than Hardwired! While Hardwired had the first half be pretty good and the second half not keep with the consistency, each track on this record gives you at least one thing to love about it. The riffs, oh, the riffs… With repeated listens, I started to love the singles (except for Lux Æterna, which I fell in love with instantly on release!), but each non-single track clicked for me, ... read more
I've quickly fallen for this album after its release and I find myself listening to tracks off this album repeatedly from time to time. Taylor is a lot more liberated on this record and I'm all for it. Her previous two albums, folklore and evermore are what made me a Swiftie back in 2020. I truly think it is criminal for this album to be rated this low on here. This album, Midnights solidifies her validity as a singer-songwriter, and I'm looking forward to what Taylor has in store in the future.
