This album is kinda an anomaly. Jay Rock is a fine rapper but before 90059 he never gave hints he could achieve such a cohesive and good album. Is it the TDE magic ? The fact that he was surrounded by some of the best artists at the time ? Yes to both of theses questions but it wouldn't be fair to Jay Rock to minimize one thing : before Kendrick became Kendrick, it was Jay Rock who was the star of the label, he was the most prolific rapper, he put a lot of work so the label would rise. ... read more
Every song is a banger, every beat is just perfect for this album, every featuring is amazing (fuck Diddy though) and every time I listen to it I just feel like I'm the best man walking in the street, like I'm on my victory lap.
I just love Bad News, there's always that one track on his albums that makes me remember each project. I like the start of the album with Ghetto 24 and Wait Too Long, Buddy is great at creating synergy with other artists, whether he's the main artist or not. People seem to dislike High School Crush but I kinda like it, he tried different genres in this album. Coolest Things is nice too. The only 2 tracks I don't really dig are the intro and the outro.
