I like the tape, I remember listening to it a lot when it came out (especially Feed Me Dope, underrated banger). But I also find it weird how you can tell they just did their own thing separately. Maybe they didn't but that's the feeling I have while listening, it sounds like they just put one verse after another without really working together. It's a fine mixtape but if they had more chemistry it would have been one of the best trap project ever.
This album is kinda an anomaly. Jay Rock is a fine rapper but before 90059 he never gave hints he could achieve such a cohesive and good album. Is it the TDE magic ? The fact that he was surrounded by some of the best artists at the time ? Yes to both of theses questions but it wouldn't be fair to Jay Rock to minimize one thing : before Kendrick became Kendrick, it was Jay Rock who was the star of the label, he was the most prolific rapper, he put a lot of work so the label would rise. ... read more
Every song is a banger, every beat is just perfect for this album, every featuring is amazing (fuck Diddy though) and every time I listen to it I just feel like I'm the best man walking in the street, like I'm on my victory lap.
I just love Bad News, there's always that one track on his albums that makes me remember each project. I like the start of the album with Ghetto 24 and Wait Too Long, Buddy is great at creating synergy with other artists, whether he's the main artist or not. People seem to dislike High School Crush but I kinda like it, he tried different genres in this album. Coolest Things is nice too. The only 2 tracks I don't really dig are the intro and the outro. But the major flaw of this ... read more
I could rate this even higher, I love this mixtape. So many gems, probably his most polished project after Victory Lap : Ocean Views is a classic, I Do This is awesome just for the Young Thug part at the end, Shell Shocked is pure Nipsey energy, One Hunnit's beat is beautiful, Question #1 is another classic... Just writing this makes me realize I have to rate it higher. So it goes from 82 to 85.
I was listening actively to both of these artists at the time this came out so how the fuck did I never heard about it before today ? But now I kinda regret knowing this because I wish there was a full LP with Buddy and Kaytranada collaborating.
I listened to it too many times to be really objective, but damn this is great.
99.9% never feels like a collection of songs produced by Kaytranada, it's often the case with producers' albums, it's really an album with Kaytranada as the main artist, he doesn't sing but you can recognize his touch in every track. As a proof you just need to listen to Track Uno, no lyrics, just an instrumental but the first notes are so iconic, it's like someone is singing lyrics you ... read more
The first half is super solid, I'm less into Yeah Right than people here. Big Fish is a such a bop, definitely one of the best west coast banger ever. Recently I saw an interview where Vince says he did this album with the idea of putting these songs in movies. Even if it's a proof of his intelligence (many people say that about him) in terms of business, it breaks a little the spirit of the album for me. What's great with his discography though, is that almost every project is ... read more
The more I listen to this album, the more I want to listen to it. I find songs like BOUNCE WIT ME, WHATUWANNASAY?!, STREETCAR or BREAK TIME very addictive. He's also very good at navigating between genres. Kenny Mason has always used rock in his music so considering the trend in 2026 which seems to lean towards rock in rap, his ''timing is perfect'' like he says in one song. And he does a better job at blending those two genres than A$AP Rocky.
Oh I'm sorry AOTY contender, I didn't hear you comin but please make yourself at home.
I listened to this so many times when it came out. But I just listened to it again and it was not as good as it was in my memory. The intro and Take Me Home are the highlights no doubt about it. I liked Lil Fade and The Shining too. So we have great songs and the project is not too long to become boring... but that's also a problem. Like a lot of people, I feel like if this was a little bit longer and more ambitious, if he expanded on the topics he talks about, this would be a great ... read more
Only 11 tracks, 3 of them being skit or interlude, we're left with 8 tracks and half of these tracks annoy me for some reason. I don't like he sings on the hooks of Relay and Outside! and I'm not a fan of Run the Bands' beat. The first and the last track are the best but the rest is really below what he gives us on the other projects. It's a short project but it doesn't have a great replay value... I don't really get the idea of making a fake radio and ... read more
Short but not memorable. It's not bad as a whole but the crocodile noises kinda annoys me. It's well produced but Action Bronson wandered in more unique universes.
Not my favorite Action Bronson album, it's nice to listen to even if it's not his most memorable. Really nice jazz rap production on some tracks. Splash is funny. Sergio is probably the best track of this project, I also really liked Marcus Aurelius.
Wow. His last projects didn't really leave a mark on me, I kinda liked Only For Dolphins but nothing since Mr. Wonderful was really impressive. But this one man. He keeps on his series of albums centered around an animal, but among all of them I can without a doubt say the frog is the champion.
Olympic Vince Carter is incredibly pleasant to listen to, Triceratops is a trip on his own and Lil Yachty's verse is noteworthy (he fits perfectly on the beat), the same goes for Roc Marciano ... read more
I guess his last album made me want to dive back into his discography. I always loved Mr. Wonderful, surely more than people seem to like it according to the user score. It's a weird album but all his albums could be considered "weird" for someone not used to his music. You have really high highs like Easy Rider, Light in the Addict or Terry and weird tries like the interlude, Galactic Love or Only in America but to me it just adds to the uniqueness of this LP. The production is ... read more
