Wow. His last projects didn't really leave a mark on me, I kinda liked Only For Dolphins but nothing since Mr. Wonderful was really impressive. But this one man. He keeps on his series of albums centered around an animal, but among all of them I can without a doubt say the frog is the champion.
Olympic Vince Carter is incredibly pleasant to listen to, Triceratops is a trip on his own and Lil Yachty's verse is noteworthy (he fits perfectly on the beat), the same goes for Roc Marciano ... read more
I guess his last album made me want to dive back into his discography. I always loved Mr. Wonderful, surely more than people seem to like it according to the user score. It's a weird album but all his albums could be considered "weird" for someone not used to his music. You have really high highs like Easy Rider, Light in the Addict or Terry and weird tries like the interlude, Galactic Love or Only in America but to me it just adds to the uniqueness of this LP. The production is ... read more
At the first listen I was kinda disappointed, I did not enjoy it at all, it sounded blurry to me (I still don't know why I had this feeling at first). But after a few more listens I find big qualities in this new Isaiah Rashad album : first off, it's not filled with featurings like the last one and he's completely able to hold my attention by himself on a full LP. Secondly, I find it really cohesive, it's like a long flow is going through the whole project. Thirdly the ... read more
He's from Tenessee but I can't say I ever really felt the Memphis rap influence but on this one I can finally hear it : Lay Wit Ya obviously with Duke Deuce (one of the most memphiest rappers right now), RIP Young and 9-3 Freestyle also which have a Memphis production style. Sadly though, these are misses for me, it's so weird because I love Zay and I love Memphis rap but it doesn't work, you could never tell he's from Tenessee. I think his style is something else. His ... read more
I don't know if the voice message at the beginning is true, I mean did he really delivered this masterpiece in the rush to satisfy his label ? The most complete Isaiah Rashad album, I love Cilvia Demo more than this but as I said in my review I'm not objective. The Sun's Tirade is probably the best album he will ever give us, he had that will to prove, he had to exist in a label filled with big names (Kendrick, Q, Jay Rock and Ab-Soul were all pretty important around that time), ... read more
I am absolutely not objective on this one. I listened to it so many times when it came out, and I still do.
Y'ALL LIVE FOR B*TCHES AND BLUNTS, WE LIVE FOR WEED AND MONEY
I WONDER WHERE YOU ARE I WANTED YOU TO SHOW ME
Great way to end this chapter. I love every song on this, especially Robot Voices (''how did you find me'' resonates in me in a way I can't explain). Cottonwood (''I've been catching my reflection already looking''), Days Lie Dormant, Drum Show (''he drives fast just to feel it, he drives slow if the song's not over'')... I think what really caught my attention in Breach is ... read more
I don't find amazing Smithereens and Legend. That's it, the rest is gold. This is the best twenty one pilots album hand down (even if Breach is growing more and more on me). When it came out I knew the band of course but even if I liked the singles, I can't say I was a big fan of Blurryface, so I was extremely surprised when I discovered the Jumpsuit video, it instantly their best song for me. And the whole album is filled with gems, I think every song can be someone's ... read more
Clancy is a damn good album, from a band too often criticized mainly because of their fanbase. Scaled and Icy was disappointing but almost every track on this one slaps but the big highlights are the intro and the outro. And Vignette too. And The Risk of Feeling Dumb. And when he shouts ''hey kid get out of the road''.
I know twenty one pilots fans praise this album but it's weak compared to other albums they released (Trench, Breach or Clancy all sound way better in my opinion). It starts pretty strongly with the hits Heavydirtysoul, Stressed Out and Ride. I personnally really like Lane Boy for its hook (not the verses). But after that it becomes quite forgettable, with the exception of Doubt, only because we all heard it somewhere, but that doesn't mean it's a really good song. I know ... read more
I love Buddy, especially Harlan & Alondra but since that album every release has been a little bit disappointing each time ann now for his 4th album we reach the lowest he can get (I hope). None of the songs really hit me except OTW maybe. I think if it was released in 2019 we would enjoy it but it almost sounds like Buddy didn't make evolve his music, like we (him or the public) lost some spark about his music. It's not horrible but from him I expect way more.
I don't hate this but coming from MIKE and Earl this is pretty disappointing. MIKE's part is okay but I can't name one song that stood up. And Earl's flow on his entire part is boring af it sounds like he's about to pass out. It's funny than when it was announced the whole production was made by Surf Gang, people were disappointed, it turns out the production is the best part of the project without being exceptionnal it's a bit unique and I will remember the ... read more
... read more
I've been playing this on repeat since the release. Only 7 tracks but I love each one of them except BUSHWICK maybe. Her music is smooth, it's a joy to listen to. Her first album is not announced but I can tell you it's the project I anticipated the most in the world right now.
Concernant Grand Garçon, ça commence pas trop mal, j'aime bien l'intro ... read more
