this was one of my most anticipated albums of the year and it most definitely delivered. after first hearing the singles for this record I knew it was gonna be nonstop fire and, unsurprisingly, it was. “freak it” continues to be my favourite song of 2026, and there’s a very good chance that this record will be among the very best of the year when all is said and done. it’s just banger after banger.
the production here is insane, and I absolutely ... read more
i am very a much a fan of country taylor, and wish that she made more albums in that sound beyond the first part of her career. on this project, you can see her dipping her feet into the sounds and styles that will eventually contribute to her brilliant sophomore album "fearless", but it's definitely evident that she still has a ways to go before she gets to that level of quality.
all things considered, this isn't that bad of a release. it has some strong tracks, is ... read more
this album and "habibti" are like a quarantine for all the bad songs that could've ended up on "iceman" but were instead sectioned off and put into their own containment facilities. both albums somehow manage to be an amalgamation of all of drake's worst musical traits put together.
this album is filled to the brim with droning, sleep-inducing production, meandering and robotic auto-crooning, and awful features. not to mention the complete and utter creative and ... read more
drake is... back? is drake back?
after dropping his best project in over a decade, he decided to drop quite possibly two of his worst projects ever alongside it. this is quite literally the only good album he's put out since the 2010s, and it's honestly a miracle that this even exists. however, i'll save my negativity for if i review "maid of honour" or "habibti". i'll mainly focus this review on how "iceman" managed to single-handedly save ... read more
this is an album whose rating has fluctuated a lot for me over the years, but is a project that I can’t deny has something special about it.
drake is very much an imperfect artist and an imperfect person. however, a lot of his music holds a very unique place in my heart for its role in defining the sound of my adolescence. so many of his songs and albums from the 2010s are tied to specific memories and moments in time, and listening to them again transports me back to that bygone era. ... read more
as someone who loves grian chatten and thinks he’s an absolutely brilliant vocalist, I’m so sad that this album didn’t click with me.
the tracks on here are obviously well-produced technically, but to me they often lack dynamics and can end up dragging. grian’s voice feels almost flat and overly drawn out, as if the life and power of it has been drained. that’s incredibly disappointing considering the fact that grian’s voice is such a strong force when ... read more
i first heard noah kahan's music in a spotify ad on my tv promoting his album "stick season". it had came on during a commercial break for the hockey game i was watching, and at that time i had a much more rigid concept of what 'good music' was. the song that was playing in the advertisement was the title track, "stick season", and though i had already decided in my head that the track 'wasn't for me' based on whatever inane criteria i had ... read more
