Interesting beats, great execution, but some flows are just bad. Also Yachty is doing the tremolo voice on half his verses and I don't dig it much.
Enjoyable listening experience, sadly only a few tracks really stand out enough for them to enter my rotation. I agree with the general sentiment of "she's releasing too much music", cause she is... I'd rather have an album full of the highest highs from each tape rather than 14 tracks of filler just for 3 good songs. (Even the fillers sound fire, don't get me wrong, but there's too many).
That into puts me off so much, but generally this ain't that bad. Lyrically there's nothing going on (like usually), but I think this genre fits TUV's vocals more than anything he's made so far.
As for the other versions, I really don't care about them... Animatronic version sounds very... odd... and the sped up version isn't sped up enough to make it interesting.
This EP needs more attention, the production is actually great, the vocals and the lyrics aren't bad either, sad to see it never got any much deserved attention :(
Favorite Track: Weird Lives (10/10)
Least Favorite: Lonely (6.5/10)
BLP singing is something I always appreciate, and Yung Lean's verses are very soothing.
As an avid Hyperpop enjoyer myself, I find this album very pleasant. It doesn't try to do something it can't do, it's a sober album that I can't help but love. While yes, lyrically there's not much to go into, GOM shows that they're a versatile producer. That shines through very well on some of these tracks, especially "Blurt" and "Killing Time".
After having songs from this album in my playlists for a few months, I started to see cracks forming in the way that these songs ... read more
As much as I want to like Tuv's songs, sometimes I just question myself how he thought some of these songs were worthy of releasing...
Getting into the songs, the first one is truly dreadful. The second one has a cool tone that I dig, but the lyrics hold it back A LOT, like, "I'm obsessed with your wrists"... WHAT is that. Third song takes a more Pop-Punk sound, executed horribly but points for trying... I wont write anything for the fourth one I'm too lazy... track 05 gets carried ... read more
For a more "Serious" Softwilly song, this is genuinely good. I still feel like it has that "YouTuber" identity to the flow and delivery, but if you didn't know who either Softwilly or Kage were, you would definitely think this is a late 2010s emo / pop rock banger.
Having been in VCs with Zay multiple times, I can confidently say he is my best friend, therefore my review will be heavily biased in his favor.
HOWEVER, objectively this album is great. The production has a crunchy and tight sound, giving it a cohesive feel. The mix itself is great and the electric guitar elements give it a really original sound you can't miss.
As I said in the Slumberparty Discord server a few months ago, Zay is making the da Vinci of Hyperpop.
Honestly can't wait to see ... read more
While yes, I agree that this album differs a LOT from Nick's sound, I honestly don't see issues with the production nor repetitiveness. If you'd take the time to listen to any other punk genre you'd see that the tracks sounding the same is part of the identity of this type of music.
Of course the execution on the vocal side of things could be better, but overall I really think this project is not that bad, seeing this is his "first" shot at this genre.

Mom Jeans is what really got me into Midwest emo, this album especially was one of my top picks overall this year. Admittedly I didn't listen to it as much I should have (I didn't want it to feel overplayed), but despite that I truly feel this is one of the most memorable projects of this genre.
The Scrapyard series has to be the best episodic-type music releases right now, the production and creativity is unmatched, especially when you take into account the 3 week window between releases.
My favorite track has to be EASIER, I love the Brazilian funk beatboxing sprinkled in the background along with the really lo-fi sound of Ben's vocals.
Beyond godly, 0 misses. Loved every track & I will continue to love this album until the day I perish.
